Well our first shoot of the year went well. It was cold but dry and a bit of sun appeared. Bag was 122 head comprising of 57 duck 56 pheasant 7 partridge and 2 pigeon. My own contribution wa

It’s been frosty the last couple of mornings, it’s very welcome , hopefully it will kill a few bugs . Unfortunately the Maize and cover crops don’t like it and they will soon be unviable as a drive .

Back to the farmer who breeds our ducks on Thursday night. I knew there was one about because I had been on Monday night and my mate shot a vixen. He had seen another but didn’t manage to get a shot at it. I thought I would leave it for a couple of nights then have another look. I set up on a track 200yds from the gate into the next field where I thought it would come from. I was set up for 10.15pm with the caller 50yds off to my right. I saw it in the next field about 10.50pm and switched the caller on. I had already preselected “rat distress “ and it was only a matter of seconds before it slid under the gate and raced up the track. I switched the drone on and it paused momentarily on the track around 150yds out. I had just settled the reticule on it when it decided to run in to the caller. I had to mute it otherwise it would have run straight to it. As it stopped to listen for its next meal I moved the reticule to its engine room and gently touched the Timney trigger. It had been a dog fox no more than 50yds away. Another that won’t be killing his stock.

I've just started a stink pipe too ?

Never had any idea about them until a short a while back when someone else posted something.

I'd be pleased to hear about success or otherwise!

Cheers

Jess gets many a piece of boiled rabbit?

Ok, help me out, my lads dog, who comes out with us a bit, and goes mad after them, wont eat them at all until its cooked/boiled.  He eats plenty of other raw meat but refuses the rabbits until cooked, then can't get enough of them!?!?!

What's that all about????

I had a trip up to my mates place again this evening back around the game cover on pesty patrol as he’s had to re-drill it and not happy, after shooting a few I decided to give it a rest and go and give the fox I seen an hour, no fox so back up to second strip of cover for a couple of rabbits. A lovely couple of hours out and the gay’s were looking over me, which was nice of them ?☺️

Don't know about that mate.

I boil some for my dog to kill parasites.
