You've gone deep mate. Deeper than i expected for an average film ..perhaps I'm too flippant with my appraisal, I don't think I'll give it another go though...

DeNiro plays the sociopath with the soft centre so well.

It was almost a reprisal of his roll in the deer hunter although I wouldn’t be as familiar with Heat as I am the deer hunter which is one of my all time favourite films.

The “This is this” scene I totally got, if indeed there was anything to get because I understood that attitude.

I understand exactly why you would use those type of characters as a teaching aid brother.

Its a much more educated way to display the lesson of “don’t be a c**t”

Mheh. I've certainly seen a lot Worse of this kind of thing, from them. But, not their best level.

Flix. Two hours. War film (WW2. Netherlands).

Forgettable, to be honest. Not the fastest and not exactly ripping action either

 

 Now, if ye want to see a Dutch, war film that Is well worth a look? Two hours would be much better spent on their " Riphagen: The Untouchable "!

Bit of Norwegian nonsense. Bit slower to take off. But, I rode with it and ended up having a couple of fukking good laughs out of it.

Plenty of gratuitous and violent violence. Some of it on the more imaginative side of the scale.

I don't resent having watched it.

I managed the first episode. Pretty little girl. Acting wasn't so hammy ...

I just couldn't buy into the story line that an ordinary teen can be transformed into some sort of Jackie Chan over night.

Brilliant post there squire....its the small details in relationship connections,the realistic thought processes that made it a great film for me just as a quick example the scene when they have to make a decision right there on the spot do they take the bank or not....Tom Sizemore i forget his name in it says " i,ll go with you Neil whatever you think ".....Neil says " not on this one,your mrs takes good care of you,you have money put away etc etc,be smart and walk away "......then with a few seconds thought Sizemore comes back with that classic line " for me the action is the juice....im in "..........it was such an authentic,clear sighted moment and again,brilliantly played...like yourself im no bank robber but can totally appreciate that commitment to potentially life changing decisions made on the spot......Sizemore is a fantastic actor who go's under the radar for me.

I watched heat again the other evening, good film. I like a few of that genre don't know if it's the fog of willing on the bad guys and then reminding myself they're scum bags or envying their freedoms and living outside society. But Carlito , heat, goodfellas all have that appeal . Not many genres can hold their own in modern times , I'm no fan of war or horror , I like a good cowboy or historical drama , but hard to beat a good crime caper , the devil in us all....
