If you were closer I’ve a hob you could of had I’ve had the same line of ferrets a number of years decided to pack in ferreting last year got rid of all my Jill’s because ferreting down this ways a waist of time you waist a day ferreting for maybe 1 rabbit that’s how bad it’s got it’s not worth the hassle it’s dead time your get more sport with a lamp an dog trespassing rather than stood around waiting for a bolt down here on permission the poor c**ts not even had a days work this season as I’ve not felt the times worth waisting ??

I'm the same mate ,up until a few yr ago plenty rabbits to go at but now it's baron local ,if I see young about start of spring/summer I always hoping  they coming back but no such luck yet .once my old jill and daughter gone thst will b it until numbers pick up .i kept this line ferrets for yrs and the two Jill's are the last of the line ..its a shame numbers have got so bad as ferreting always been my main thing ,but not to worie we always find something while out on a rake about .

Shame ain’t it mate I was thinking the other day I wonder how many lad/lasses that have always liked a bit of ferreting that kept there own little strain of ferrets have called it a day due to lack of numbers   It’s grim if you think to much in to it I mean some people have kept ferret stains an there choice of dogs they like to use going a long time an now more an more are finding there’s hardly nowt to go at so are pretty much redundant unless there dogs are handy enough to lamp a few or switch it up a bit shame really

Thats most of the stuff i do is bolt to dogs if the rabbits were to go i would be finished with it most my ground is a travel but its just part of it now needs must it is a shame poxon hope they appear back for you

Got one hob left I used to keep 2-5 Jill’s an a hob it’s been a roller coaster ride the last 5yrs they’ve been slowly declining Down in the midlands I used to travel to some spots But not to far within half hour drive I had a few different bits of permo still got a couple of bits of ferreting permo was speaking to the owner of a sheep farm I get on last night He wants me to hammer the last of them back as much as I can as he’s got a few fields hes doing crops on this year so I’m going to have hammer the last of the warrens or else he’ll shoot the remaining I was trying to save them as stock for next season but it’s a opportunity to bring my pup on I know there’s rabbits along the hedge rows plus my hob will get a bit of action this season

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

Hi to all, so I've never owned a whippet before and have encountered an irritating habit that got worse in the last month of ferreting and was wondering if anyone out there has had success minimising noise during ferreting?
So he runs prey silently, almost never barks at home so I was very happy going into his first winter, but.... when the ferret slot machine is not paying out fast enough for his liking he yips at the holes he senses are near the underground action. On top of that, if he runs a bolted rabbit to ground again he persistently barks at the hole while constantly looking at me as if to say "get them ferrets over here mate, I've got one for you"
I've a very experienced collie lurcher who is a dream to ferret with but the whippet seems to make no reference to the good stuff he does. Any ideas on managing this?

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea
