SheepChaser 8,082
I know most wont read that - but it’s a very astute look at the situation in today’s economist. It’s pretty bloody terrifying!

But the sheep are my bit of it really. My pals cousin was a shepherd, Welsh lads and into their terriers. What type do your keep?.....I only had a few but got wiped out year before last, fecking fluke. (Least I’m assuming it was fluke) Just one left now out of my small flock, tame as a dog ! Daughters buying a few foster lambs Monday.
Accip74 7,112
Just got off the phone to a mate in Essex & he was saying it was business as usual where he lives apart from the panic buying. Do you think people are taking it serious enough?

These days we’ve mostly got wool shedders, a cross bred composite wool shedding type, along with a load of welsh and welsh x types (mostly texel x), and a September / October lambing flock of Dorset’s. Apart from the Dorset’s, the rest lamb in April / May. Big focus on genetics, and efficient low maintenance sheep here, big scale, outdoor lambing, forage based. At one point was running around 7000 breeding ewes, down to around 2000 breeders now and buy a few more stores etc.

Yes and they’ve had to shut some beaches places now as everyone seems to have just gone and gathered together everywhere else instead of pubs, cafes etc

SheepChaser 8,082
One unintended consequence - I understand everyone is off work, but suddenly the countryside as rammed. It’s like one big cough ridden car park. The farm has foot paths over it and it’s mental, people everywhere!
