Terrier pup recall

Ayup , got a working border bitch puppy who's 23 weeks old now. Great bitch, very game with a lot of go in her. Just wondered how you boys handle recall, cos she's not sharp on it.

What terrier is sharp on a recall when their noses are down or the minds occupied somewhere else,but at that age i wouldn't worry as it's just going through that stage of being a dickhead like they all do..

I find with terriers you have to tell them rather than ask them if you know what I mean.

I find a gundog whistle a useful tool. I’m not for one moment suggesting that I can control or direct a terrier in a way that a gundog trainer can their dogs. But is useful as an instant recognisable signal to a dog. One toot to get it’s attention, which usually works, and a longer note to communicate that you want it to return, which then depends on what it’s doing at the time and whether its desire to please the boss overrides its desire to carry on doing what it is doing.
