I traded a HW95 for a Theoben Fenman, It looked lovely apart from a bit of scratching of the muzzle end when the moderator was removed, Had it for a while before I noticed a forend stock screw missing!

I removed the stock to find something stuck in the thread of the cylinder, I thought the stock screw had snapped but when I tried drilling it to get the extractor in, It wouldn't touch it!

Turned out someone had tried cleaning the threads with a tap but they snapped it ? I cracked out the Dremmel with a slim diamond grinder out, In no time I was through it, Rather than risk damaging the threads used a parellel punch to snap the high carbon remainder in to bits!, I've tried carbon taps before with dire results- HSS all the way, I cleaned the threads out then found a screw and replaced it, All's fine now!!

The flutes of the tap can be seen here..

This is what came out when I cracked it in to bits!, Doesn't seem much!

Cleaned out and a new allen screw cut to size and dogged down tight!

Ready to go!

Right lads before i strip the stock back

i needed to see how far the split on the inside of the stock went as it was not right thru the stock

so took the lacquer and stain off the end of the stock first and there was no sign of it (that was a good sign)

So set about sanding it back

before

Looking at the pics it may have been a fault in the wood

at first i thought it was a barrel flip and it had split the wood

but it looked to me as to strait it was not until i sent si the pics and he say,d it looked like some one had cut it with some thing

that made me look at it in a different way
