The trap was set

Recommended Posts

I was asked to take care of a chicken botherer, so not having the time to sit and wait for it I thought I’d put the camera out and bait up, it didn’t take long, in fact an hour after putting the camera out I got my first hit, it was 2 days later before I had time to check the camera and I’d made the decision that last night would be the night as the ginger seemed to be hanging around for much of the night, firstly showing up on the camera around 8pm and then on and off up until about 3:30am, getting there for 7:30pm it was little over 30 minutes before it turned up, no need for calling or shouting to get it to stop, just waited for it to have a sniff around the baited area at around 60 yards and down he went, I’ve left the camera out for now as if there’s a food source it rare that it will be the only one, there was another one on the camera that may of been a different fox and it was a leggie beast that could of been 50% greyhound or it may of just been the angle the camera picked it up, time will tell ?

I've got camera for first time. What sort of height are putting it from ground mate? Will it pick up pheasant at that height too?

I'm gonna have to put it in the woods until ewes come in otherwise I'll just have hundreds of wooly pictures!!

I put it about 3 foot off the ground and the bait a good 10 foot away from the camera, sometimes further, they pick things up from a fair distance, it picks up everything, I only set it to record for 30 seconds and then I think there’s 5 minutes before it triggers again, I’ve got some cracking little videos of buzzards feeding on bait during the day, that camera had been out about 3 days and had been triggered about 43 times

I get these off evilbay, they are cheap and easy to use, I like that they have the screen inside so you can check it in the field, all you need to do is put batteries and an sd card in them

I got this one, thoughts Stav?

Putting it on a ride in woods Thursday. Will post results.

You get what you pay for with these things, I was after a Browning which are supposed to be the dogs, around £200 though, I'd probably lose the damn thing ? I have to tag everything with gps, I'd break that then never find anything again.

That looks the same as one I used to have until someone thought they needed it more than me, they were just the same as the one I’ve got now and worked the same way, just with different buttons inside

What so special about the browning ones? Apart from the pretty badge & being more cumbersome than the beretta ones....!? ?
