Not long if you give her something tasty. Wouldn't worry you've got months and months to mess about training..

You always have a smart comment,  it wasn’t too long ago that you didn’t know a dogs nose from it tail.

maybe the lad should think about house training the dog first.that's if it is in the house..and i think 100% it will be..from someone asking such a question..

give the lad some advice wideboy....

i picked up my first pup at 8yr old.36yrs ago.so yea im a newbie to dog's myself..

Soon as mate, dosnt have to be like training though rolling an old pair of socks about the front room and calling him back that's the start of your retrieve training, make it as fun as possible 5 mins a day to start so not to bore the pup it will all click into place. Just remember the more you put in the more you get back.
