Good deer dogs (pure)

what breeds excluding lurchers can work deer in a woodland/plane area, (it is legal where I live btw). I have a Black lab x bull x collie bitch who is rapid on squirrel and rabbit/hare in extremely woody areas, on the east coast there are no speedy lurchers around, the lurchers in the states for the most part are just slow greyhounds with funny coats, no real footing or speed, I would love to be wrong about that tho.

I was thinking of a track bitch or a borzoi but I really don't know so any info would be great.

oh yeah im well aware of the 3/4 grey x 1/4 saluki but there are literally no working dogs bread anywear in the us that I know of.

Where on the east coast are ye? I just got two lurcher pups, collie hound an bull hound there this past summer imported from home(Ireland)

Got a mate who's imported a pure borzoi bitch from Russia. Her parents work hare and fox, when she's older she'll be worked to.

f**k the borzoi for a laugh can't say I've heard a good word about them. Maybe that's just in comparison too uk breed lurchers though

No point in asking us uk lot if your in the USA you got stag hounds an far better suited dogs for rough an tumble on big game on a lot larger ground

I’m pretty sure that folk like Dan edwards an them guys had some awsome yote dogs but even they said they couldn’t get near to most healthy deer, could be wrong tho

Dont think a track grey would do well in woodland. Too full on and likely to injure themselves colliding with trees.

I'd want something robust with a good nose, if I was running woodland,so it doesn't break to easy
