Fury fight-anybody remotely interested?

Recommended Posts

I've been into boxing ever since I was a kid. My memory goes right back to 1955 when I remember listening to the Don Cockell  v Rocky Marciano on the radio.  (I cried my eyes out when he lost.?) The seventies was the golden age of the heavyweight division. Since then we have had a steady decline in relevance and honesty in the game.

Fury's fight is going to be a complete fiasco and we all know it. Somebody said in the homelessness thread " how did we get to this state?" You could ask the same thing about heavyweight boxing. The noble art is akin to American wrestling now. It's a joke. Personally I think they've killed the golden goose. I get more pleasure at watching amateurs and the smaller guys now. It's a shame.

This Wallin character is rated 46 on Boxrec so theres 45 better fighters to choose from......were they all busy that night ! Fights like this are embarrassing pantomime fights that belong in WWF

I'm sure max will be watching it. Knob in hand throwing himself around the living room..

If Fury cant get opponents like that out of there when in a desperate situation he has problems, personally i think he is tailor made for Joshua who is an elite finisher pushing forward under very litt

It's a terrible fight but let's be clear even the greatest of all times faced his fair share of bums in between big bouts, you can't be fighting Joe Frazier's every bout. Saying that Fury hasn't had any gruelling bouts so it's inexcusable. ?

My first boxing memory is Clay Liston ,,,and I enjoyed the days when heavyweights had actual boxing ability ,before the days when it became like basketball ,where the proper skilful ,talented fighters play second fiddle to a bunch of amateur leve,l baby giraffe s

Agree. Marciano fought at 13 stone 7.As the size of heavyweight boxers has gone up their abilities have gone down. They now resemble  pawing , probing stick insects. About as riveting as a chess match. When Fury beat Klitchko there was not a decent blow landed.

Marciano would have been a LHW if he was around today.

I think it’s going to be the fight of the century, better than anything Ali or lomachenko can do and best of all he is doing it in his opponents own backyard.......

Let’s agree to disagree even the manassa mauler would do it as he showed once caught the giants fall badly as Ruiz also showed against AJ

Dempesy would have had a much better chance of beating the giants, horses for courses or so they say.

The key to it is tiring them out then getting the ko when they’re too f****d to even hold they’re hands up to defend, fight them off the back foot then take the opertunity

Marciano was a come forward bulldozer, he never heard the word back foot.
