I always was of the opinion that a spaniel was not going to be completely useless. Even if they don't excel they will do a bit earning value for money. A terrier is either good or useless after an hour in the dark so with the percentage rates they have a chance of spewing

I wont comment on spaniels as to me it seems only rightly they command an higher price . Like I said I was in a previous post looking to the future in regards too replacement dogs . I think a good price is around the £250 too £350 mark for a lurcher pup if it's got the breeding then the likelihood it will make an half decent dog but that down to the individual putting the time and effort in training feeding and entering i always tended to wait till at least there 12 months old less likely to strain lungs or heart and less strain on the rest of the body . After my last bitch died I didn't bother with another lurcher then after having too have open heart surgery for a dodgy valve I decided on another dog and took a rescue lurcher on and to be totally honest never again he took 12 months to socialise and settle hates men with white or grey hair and is very reluctant with anybody except me the wife and lad hates other dogs .couple this with the fact he also has an heart condition which I only found out about 2 years later . It will mean that when he finally leaves this mortal coil he will be replaced with a pup. I took the dog on and it's my responsibility too care for him and give him the best life he can have he has had a bad start and was mistreated in his early life he had a bad injury lamping 9 months  after getting him which cost me £1100 to sort out and  retired him immediately. he is an affectionate dog with immediate family but wary of anybody else so is a companion dog now .

fair play mate, taking on a rescue lurcher, plenty of dogs there need chance of life. But looking at the big picture of owning a dog, i think a pup lot better to have and bring on , even just as pet. ive met few dog walkers with dogs like yours above, carnt loose them of the lead, there not dog friendly,  and weary strangers . now when they meet my 2 lurchers , they are really shocked at our friendly there are with people and other dogs, i tell them that all my lurchers that ive been around since 1984 thats different  xs , bar 1 ( kelpiex collie x grey  bitch ) all been the same as m 2 now. and i would say that my big lurcher  Buck 1x gsd x grey  got the best temp of the lot   , big soft thing with people/ dogs , but different dog  with wild animal . as soft as he is i wouldn't  chance bring in a mature  male dog in the kennel/ compound  with him, it what the other dog like be the prob, if it attacked  him , he after fight back, to protect him self, well if he did , he make a mess of another dog with his strength and jaw power deff.so it after be pup, that work out great he spot on with pups. the jack x ive got now woody  is a rescue  dog , he was my sons dog, he got to little ones now 2 year old girl and 5 month boy, woody ok , but dont like kids  messing him about, so i had him. well he prat, he bite  Buck tail , Buck keeps well way if woody in the garden , he had go at old Bryn fookin twice   , woody lives inside them pair live out together in kennel  there good mates Buck and bryn. if it wasnt for my son   woody wouldn't be here , but he loves the little twat, so i keep him here .

Hence me never ever breaking the golden rule of taking an adult dog again . the dislike of other dogs is a result of him being grabbed by another dog hence is distrust of other dogs brilliant off the lead recall livestock no problems . But its unsurety of not knowing what your getting . With a pup the buck stops with you I think you can put it down too 30% breeding 70% time and effort so if you socialise take your dog out at least twice 3 times a day put the effort in in regards to walking playing with him feeding him properly and just not stuck in a run all day and expect them to catch space invader rabbit numbers . Your will be alright different people have different methods.  I choose the dog it's my responsibility I have too get on with it and look to the future but I will never ever go down the route of taking a rescue or adult dog ever again . I am not saying they are a bad thing but they are not something for me good for a lot of people but not my circumstances. Unfortunately and I think the popularity of the breed we see a lot of dogs going on this merry go round.

I would never take adult dog on again ,don't matter who bred ,worked the juckel it's not for me ,got one here I got at two yr he's 8 now ,think the world of him but he came with problems that wouldn't have been there as a pup .

times of £50 pups are gone and folk gift to mates to keep a line close for future breeding etc .

The bedlington whippet game cracks me up people paying up to £500 for a bedlington whippet it’s a lost cause most are bred from not even average dogs for money it’s not good when people are coming in to the working dog game they ask for advice on a good dog to get because there new to the game every one says get a beddy whippet then later on once the dogs due to be started it’s found wanting in nearly all directions bar a bit of light rabbit work don’t get me wrong I love the look of a bedlington whippet I’ve been round quite a few there definitely not what they used to be!
