Dryad's Saddle common name Pheasants Wing. Found this big old one would be no good, but then on the opposite side were these young ones. Just took one as they are edible and only classed as fair.

Raining to day so gave the Ferreting a rest and went out foraging for Mushrooms etc. My ferreting mate stopped on the way to mine picked a load of nice Field Mushrooms, after a cup of tea we set off t

Giant polypore; cooked it with garlic, chives from the garden and prawns ?   Kids loved it

And a horshoe which apparently can be re-used. The horses seemed to go out of there way to break any mushrooms I had earmarked for later. They they have just been moved to another field and now there are loads of erupting field and parasol mushrooms . Tomorrow I shall strike!

Thought the same thing today. Ferreting a horse paddock ever Field mushroom just kicked over and broken, I don't know why they do it but the seem to target them Lol.

Do they smell of mushrooms, almonds or aniseed if they do then they are probably edible mushrooms, I say probably because seeing a picture is not the same as handling them myself.

The main thing there is no yellowing on the Cap or on the stalk. The Yellow stainer is the one that gets confused with the Field Mushroom and the Horse Mushroom mate.

They smell of Indian ink or of Chemicals

The Yellow Stainer.

I have put photos of these up before, but see how close they are to the Field Mushrooms and Horse Mushrooms. If scratched around the outside of the cap or at the base of the stalk they go bright yellow. BUT yellow fadeaway after a while.

They smell like Indian ink or chemical like.

Every single field or horse mush gets cut at base  I got a few takes in amongst the yellow stainer , I glanced a field alive with mushrooms some of the tastiest the wild horse was no more than a few feet of the stainers   He’ll of a taste the horse along with the wigs
