They’re sanctioned to f**k already, all they have left is their pride. Hence this act of reciprocity. If we had taken the threat seriously to begin with actual escalation could have been avoided. More escorts in the gulf and more marines. What did HMGov expect? Those poxy guard attack boats should be like a duck shoot for the RN but assets are spread too thin. Add to that we now have a billion pound destroyer doing escort duties with the primary threats not air but asymmetric. They get lucky and we lose a sixth of our carriers air defence fleet.
