Hip replacement

He’s fobbing you off . They do a resurfacing on younger patients, this then allows them to do a proper hip replacement at a later date when it wares out , but they reckon they are good for 20 years. No one should have to put up with pain . But then there’s pain and then there is discomfort? When I had mine done  I could hardly walk , and I had to pluck up courage to walk a few steps . Only you know your own body , if you can put up with it , then it’s up to you .

I got that impression as well he was trying to fob me off until the pain gets to severe I will just plod on.

true with pain and discomfort , ive put up with both since the 80s , that lower back = worn discs . i have somtimes had hip probs , where i can just about walk , then couple days it goes bit better. it all linked to sciatica which i get from lower back/hip , it used be more on my left side but now gone over to my right side buttock etc  now . i take  4 Tramadol   a day and another tab , thats for nerve damage. i ok walking , can do 2-3 hours every day with my dogs , get few times when it plays up lower back and hip , but not  to bad, but my big prob now driving, more than say 40 mins, my right buttock  hurts and foot goes bit numb , so i am fooked really going distance  in my car,i always new it get worse and it as, but suppose you got to bite the bullet and plod on with your life. ive always though tried not to go under knife , if i can help it , but as you said   you know your own body, and really how much pain you can take , some people can take more than others  deff  , think i am just over middle regards pain.!

My father got a hip replacement at mid 50s after delaying it. Eventually they said to him that his good hip was worse than the bad one from hobbling one sided. He had arthritis ( a disease of the blood) and 10 year later it developed into multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer). He now has 7 fractures in his back from bones disintegrating  and nearly suffered kidney failure from filtering the blood and huge doses of pain killers. The theory from the specialist is he had an undiagnosed gluten allergy most of his life which causes a lack of calcium in the body triggering a sequence of problems. They reckon calcium supplements and a gluten free diet earlier would have prevented it. My brother got tested at 38 and discovered he also has a gluten allergy and now eats gluten free and takes calcium to prevent future problems.

If I could have soldiered on I would have . The X-ray showed that the smooth surface of my hip joint where there is also a type of fluid that lubricates the joint was gone and it was literally bone on bone . The pain was unbearable , I’d been suffering too long , “hang on !!!! I think I can hear violins playing “ . But seriously, my operation has been successful and I now don’t even think about pain anymore, I am just leading a normal life . Why take pills and be a martyr.... get it sorted, because these things just snowball.

Dont underestimate the importance of staying properly hydrated when you have disc degeneration issues,if the gelatinous material thats inside the discs is starved of water it becomes like a shock absorber with no oil....your discs are your dampers you cant let them run dry.
