It's a good rifle but not interesting enough. Truth is the Bruno is to close to my other rimfire, a cz 452.

So I tested a marlin 60 on Friday and I was very impressed. It fed four types of sub sonic ammo and had a nice cycle and although heavy a good trigger break.

I will be swapping this weekend and then submitting the paperwork before collection of the marlin.

But this afternoon I removed the scope off the Bruno and just used the open sights and Winchester lasers.

First rabbit was 61 paces.

Next shot was 30 I guess and the third was 71 paces.

I was happy with that and so was the recipients.

Finished of with three squirrels too.

The rifle was so much nicer to carry without the scope. I plan on using the marlin on its opens too. A short range rifle. It makes me hunt instead of sniping.

SD.

Ps. Are these photos legal? Or has another idiot popped up?

Good shooting SD. Good luck with the marlin. It’ll be interesting to see how you get on with it ?

Whilst I am under no illusion that it will be as accurate as the brno it should make for a nice toting rifle. I may scope it but with a little 4x. Or scope it but take it off and just have it on standby.

It was certainly reliable. Shorter too.

The Brno gets left behind in favour of the 452.

This should add some fun, less time loading a clip.

The 452 simply followed on from the BRNO in the production/evolution process, they are great guns, still lots about and very accurate and reliable.

I've never personally owned a BRNU but 3 members of my rifle club have them and they have been very happy with them for many years.

The Marlin is a whole different kettle of fish, semis have their uses, especially if you are likely to use it un-scoped.    I have the Magtech 7022 (Mossberg 702), which is cheap as chips but remarkably accurate and reliable (trigger could be better) but it gets much less use than my 452!

Good luck!

I’ve been thinking the same thing sausage, my BRNO 22lr has been my constant companion for the last 12 years . I bought it used but in excellent condition and it’s been well and truly “used and abused “ . It’s been dropped, run over by a quad , left out in the rain , you name it . It’s a bit like the Top gear Hilux , I’ve tried to kill it but it won’t die . I’m toying with the idea of a new 22lr , I looked at the Wierauch with its thumb hole stock and superb trigger. I’ve also looked at the new Tikka . I have to be realistic and the Wierauch is too pretty, I think that the tikka will be the one I go for . The thing is the BRNO still shoots like the day I got it , testimony if ever there was any to the quality of these guns , I’m just bored with it .

That timber would come up nice.

I think the 7022 and 702 are the same action Deker.

The other angle is when I'm out on my nature walks when I'm watching and photographing birds. Like crows and magpies destroying nests and killing fledglings ( my personal favourite), I need an unslung rifle with good quick shots should something step out on me and surprise me. Excluding do good vegans in non leather sandals of course.

They are indeed, that's why I wrote it the way I did, the fundamental difference is the price.

Magtech £165 BRAND NEW, maybe better if you shop around!

The Magtech and Mossberg both had a seemingly identical plastic stock a while back.  Spot the difference!?

Magtech do apparently offer a wooden stock, this for a start, but I think it may just be the plastic stock we get in the UK

What amazed me was how slick the action was during shooting.

I actually am put off by the 1022 and Brno/cz autos for the cycling pulse during shooting.

The Remington 597 was good but they used that dumb magazine with a rimmed case! The marlin I hardly noticed a thing.

I never liked the colt 1911 for the same reason!
