jiggy 3,207
Fair play to the captain landing that plane under pressure and evacuated the survivors in 55 seconds and was the last to leave himself. Criminal activity suspected but who knows! Lucky b*****ds that any of them got back on tarmac alive. https://globalnews.ca/video/5242267/russian-passenger-plane-lands-in-moscow-covered-in-flames

Meece 1,957
They knew the plane was in difficulties and coming back on fire so where were the crash fire tenders? Surely they should have been in position about 2/3rds the way down the runway ready to start pumping the foam onto the plane as soon as it stopped. There were tenders going past the terminal but by the time that they got to the plane a lot of people had lost their lives. They say that the plane was hit by lightening but I can't see why this should have been the case. Aircraft are regularly hit by lightening, but it goes round the airframe with no damage. To have a fire as big as that there must have been a big fuel loss.

Meece 1,957
The statement that the crash was caused by lightening is nonsense. The mindset is just to come out with any oĺd guff and suddenly it is how it is. Planes are regularly hit by lightening, on average about once in a thousand hours flying time. The pilot says that it knocked out the control system. So how did he fly the pane Back, lower the undercarriage , get to the runway and bring the plane to a halt? This is propaganda like from the Soviet era. The plane is hailed as the russian attèmpt to break into the civilian flight sector so anything that goes against this is denied. They just ignore the fault, keep flying ànd put passengers lives at risk.
