They did it in a quarry near me repeatly for 3 years straight so they they could extract the sand .Havnt seen a sand Martin since I was a lad .Disgraceful ,surely the nest sites are now well and truly protected .

With coastal erosion happening anyway what difference is a few holes .

A quarry I was in for a few years uses to have about 50 of them every year.

They were left to it on the quarry face.

But we couldn't leave a straight face on any large stock pile of sand.

As they would try and make nests in the straight face.

If there was a slight angle on the face they wouldn't touch it.
