Hello,

here a Norse model, my version of a puukko style knife.

I used Hitachi SanMai steel with core from blue paper steel, similar to 1.2442 and very hard (about 62HRC) and iron outer layers.

These iron layers resisted to my intents to etch my logo :( next time, I need a more agressive acid.

90mm blade, soldered ferrule from gun metal, handle from stellar seacow, sterling silver pin.

The handle has a 11,5cm.

Stunning as usual ... I’ve just binned my second knife in a row that I thought was near done but then didn’t like the look of it ........

No need to bin it, there is always a fix, changing the handle, blade outline...

I rehandled some knives and I am thinking to rehandled my user I made a few years ago, but then I think, this is the way I did knives in 2016, so I leave it as it is.

It’s not in the bin I mean I’ve just put it one side. The blade is to long long for the handle in my opinion so I may well cut or grind the blade down and se me what it looks like. Here it is the handle has only had its its first shaping.

Worse than a long blade is a too short handle, I think it looks good!

If you want to shorte the blade a centimeter, take the length from the spine and don't overheat.

Decided to have a go at rescuing it so took 3/4 of an inch off the blade and added a thumb groove on the spine ... also re profiled the handle. Got a bit of work to do on the edge and the handle to get it where I want it but much happier with it now.

Don't be putting that thing in the comp auction haha...

Looks decent I'll have a neck knife when you get the blade down to an inch.

Serious note did you get a belt sander or you using wheel?

I wouldn’t let the likes of you touch such a thing of beauty ? .... bought a 72 inch belt sander .....
