At what age do you stop working your ferts? This is my first batch and they are now 6 so I have new stock coming this year. Obviously I want to give the old ones a run out as they still love it. Just wondered what your thoughts were on this.

I worked my old gills until they were about 8-9 just a few little warrens each. They are great for teaching younger ones to hunt and work a Warren so I often used them first with a younger one behind to learn from.

All the ferrets I've had have got better with age,until sick or dead.My best ferret every was a smallish albino hob who worked up to 10,you could work him in blackberries like a terrier and always came back and got in his box.I had to shoot him at 10 as skin cancer was eating his face,but worked up till then.

I’ve just retired 2 gills that have worked solid for 7yrs and for a long time we’re some of my go to workers now there just doing the odd small burrow for a bit of fun
