Beeman C1

Recommended Posts

It's been ages since I spent any time using any of my rifles

........ In the last few months, work and other stuff has been getting in the way.

So today, I took the C1 into work for a few shots in the warehouse before everyone else arrived.

this is a cracking little rifle - it's harder to shoot than anything else that I own but, it's probably one of the most satisfying to use.

.......... Jimmy and Ethan did an excellent job on the restoration - I love that silver action and wood stock combo :good:

........... Si did an amazing job on the internals - it's very quiet to cock and, the shot cycle is fast and predictable :good:

I like the shotgun style straight stock.

The single action trigger takes some getting used to - there's no hanging around on a first stage while you line up a good shot - it's all or nothing - you line it up and fire.......... A good shot is very rewarding.

I'll sort a rear sight for it at some point but, for now, it's got a little Hawke Sport HD 4x32 AO with a duplex reticle, in a Dampa mount.

The idea for this morning was to try some different pellets - I wanted to see what velocities it's giving and, shoot some groups.

.......... My kit has been put away for so long that the batteries need replacing on my Combro

Just the groups then ........

As always, nothing scientific, just 10 shots of each at a target 27yrds away.

Falcon Accuracy Plus 13.43gn

Predator Polymags 15.89gn

JSB Exacts 15.89gn

H&N FTT 14.66gn

Obviousy the scope needs rezeroing but, for this, I was just looking at the group sizes - it seems that the good ol' bog standard Exacts are the way to go.

............. Best make more to get out and practice some more

I have to say jon, that old english style stock looks lovely, really lovely pal and it seems to like the taste of jsb exacts too??

Cheers Matt

It's not easy to tell from pictures but, the resto' job on that stock is faultless - I wish I could take credit for it mate but, I'm just the proud owner.

That is a really nice looking rifle! I wish there where more airguns out there with straight hand stock's.  Nice groups too.

It's certainly different to what I'm used to mate but, I've never used a shotgun or anything similar

I do like it though - I imagine it suits the Americans way of shooting

I'm hoping to be at Si's in the Spring - it'd be fantastic if we could all be there at the same time mate :good:

I might join you and bring a few shotguns with me.

I have a master plan Phil...

a day smashing clays to get the feel of it then decoying the next day with a bit of air gunning thrown in for good measure!!

with a few pints fitting in at some point:whistling:

By jove sir that sounds rather splendid, what ho.

Session at Humberside Si, good place for clays or of course Beverley ground, now that is one of the top trap grounds in the uk and shooting under cover so hearing protectors are a must as the noise will blow yer hat off.
