I can watch the programme without getting too annoyed but 3 things do confuse/annoy me about the people regularly featured:

1) The people featured live where they do, the none natives anyway, because they have decided to "opt out ", primarily to live "off grid" . They do not give a shit about the world that they left behind or the people that inhabit that world. I get that. But...why the f##k do they then invite a camera crew to live with them and film everything that they do?

2)  How come most of them have no apparent field craft skills and can not shoot straight to save their lives'?   They just seem to send as much lead as possible in the direction of an animal that they chance upon and never cleanly kill with the 1st shot.

3) After the 1st series was re-commissioned the people featured, I would imagine, now get paid a pretty penny by the production company. I do not begrudge them that but why not be honest about it? The salmon run is late but it's ok because I got $20,000 for being on tele.

But it's better and more honest than Country File.

i like to watch it but what gets me is (and i know they get money for it lol)

they have rifles

big 4x4s

snow skis more than one

quad bikes

earth moving equipment

boats

power tools

the list go,s on

then they say we have no money or very little

only one and his name i cant remember at the min he uses no power tools at all

cuts the trees down with an axe and so on

but has a cracking looking rifle lol

and as for sue and Angus and her daughters feck you would not want to mess with them

mentioning sizable lakes.....when i worked in YellowKnife (in the Northwest Territories) we did a bit of fishing after work.....the lake we fished was 291 miles long and 126 miles wide at the widest part, 2000ft deep and covers 10,500 sq miles, its the 10th largest lake in the world.....

She annoyed me when she spent several episodes singeing about a broken collar bone, which needed surgery, to fix it. Crying and sniffling...........thought she was tough !

for me its just sue that annoys me....she talks in holywood one liners all the time....and never stops banging on about preditors ....ok bears can be man eaters and wolves maybe.....but wolverines  ???.... I get there tuff mother feckers but your not telling me they go out looking to kill and eat 250lb dyke ....

I like all the other characters in there own way....even the miserable old twat....cos by god can he turn his hand to anything....

and the lurcher man thinks ..if I lived there I would have to put one of the big huskies over a big greyhound or deerhound....just for running artic hares or caribou

How many times in a single sentence does she say "Man has to realise up here he isn't the apex predator"  Its her favourite one liner,mind you after the grizzly attack I think she went 10 days before medical help?Had to sew her own arm up,she is tough as old boots in real life I would think?I saw the clip where she was fishing for arctic char and she narrated a simple fishing trip as if it was a life-or-death herculean struggle  I don't catch I don't eat sort of thing.

As interesting as they are take them with a pinch of salt. The production company is all about enough ratings to continue with another season. All of these reality shows will see an increase in drama as the seasons progress and it's because the audience gets bored and they have to show the case doing more outlandish and dangerous sh*t to stop people switching channels. With the exception of very few you can see this on any reality TV show. Discovery's Dual Survival was bad enough that Cody Lundin quit because of the ridiculous lengths the crew were going to get the shot.

Someone mentioned in the thread about using old rifles for hunting. I'm sure some do but they won't show you the way they really do it when the camera's aren't rolling and that will involve every modern advantage they can get. Just like everyone else does. It makes nice telly to watch someone shoot an old Mosin Nagant and reminisce about simpler times but the second the cameras are off they'll probably be sporting a bolt action that's less than a couple of years old.

They're primarily scavengers in the winter but they'll take everything from mice to moose. They're the original Mini Cooper of mustelids!

I was convicted of Purgery and false reports, when I reported an Alaska State Trooper assaulting my daughter, and got her a protective order. After trial, but before sentancing I had audio Forensic specialist ''Sand Castles Recordings of Fairbanks, and ''Brite Solutions'' of anchrage prove that AST Gordon Youngs recordings of 7/17/11 were missing 11 seconds and AST Chris B Bitz recordings of 7?17/11 are missing 5 seconds, and the alterd tapes were used to convict me . I did 10 months of prison, got out last spring, and jumped right back into making 'LBZ and had the conviction set aside in December, so I am NO LONGER a felon. Ive been using modern firearms again, and am back to my normal Hunting self. Still for 5 years of legal entanglement, the wife had fun going along where I previously went alone. Gotta make the most of a bad deal. From 1992 untill 2012, I did the vast majority of the trigger work. Agnes was often along or driving (someone has to drive) and we rasied the kids up along with , and they learned by doing, so stepping aside and watching someone else shoot wasnt new, but it wasnt easy..... Lucky for me, Agnes was a witness to the doings of the AST that day , and has had my back through it all. Shes , like all the witness's that day know I did not lie. My true and loyal friend she is.
