When mine catches he comes back but drops the rabbit half way back for some reason. My last dog a bull x he was a complete dick if he didn't catch then he's off some nights he would feck off for a hour or so but he always came back and if he did catch it was a game of me chasing the shite bag round fields..... needless to say no one came out with us ??

Weird things ty my bitch will bring from long away and drop exactly 19 foot away even if she catches at me feet she walks it 19 foot then drops

I do that mate, this big dog of mine will still.mouth my hands if we play, but no one else's.... right from a pup I encouraged her to mouth my hands and used it for recall would let her walk beside me mouthing my hand then when she went on a bit call her in and let her repeat.... she is soft as butter, and hardly leaves my side, I think this helped our bond a lot...

Obviously loads of advise on here, but in this instance bones and pain = reaction...nothing more in my book...not the dogs fault and easily sorted (Don't repeat lol)....not sure what all the over dramatics are about by some...

That physical connection is vital to having a dog relaxed in your space, the key to any positive interaction with the dog, is it’s frame of mind, the better a dog feels in your company and this feeling is shown  by a predatory act of mawing your hands, the easier it will obey commands and generally life is easier all round,

Dogs  are born social, fuckups are man made, all the pup wants to do is mouth from the time it opened its eyes, having never put a kink in that pipe of flow connection from the pup results in the fact the dog is so social , you don’t discipline a dog to make it social , just show it what connection you want it to make, its the most base connection/ interaction pup ever made with the bitch, the pup will just carry it on if you let it

I had a patterdale X staff I looked after for a few months do it to me once. Was gonna slap the little fucka. But me grandad who was a breeder and trainer told me better to pin the f**k down by his scuff till he submitted them let go but still stare him down and don't let him move. Then let him get up and carry on. Don't make a thing out of it. Just like pack leader would. The dog never did it again. I could take what I wanted off him even if he had a bone for half hour. As for kids. Id say you need to get them doing stuff so he knows his lower in pack than them and make sure no challenges will be accepted! Course I'm not saying that it will always work. Just my experience hope you get it sort atb Criss

Do that to a dog who has some fight in him you got a good chance of being rushed to the emergency room.

Trying something like that with no experience or the type of relationship needed between the dog and the person ain’t going to end well.

a confident dog with good nerve. A no nonsense, no bluff type of dog is what o mean when I say ( got some fight in him) l.

All I will say is be sure you can finish the what you start. If not don’t bother as it will make it worse

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea

Just got this stunning little bitch, nearly 12 months old, Deerhound x Bedie grey.
I used to go out with my dad's Lurchers when I was a kid but I'm a female in my 30's now and struggling to get back into the swing of things.
I'd love to have this girl knocking down bunnies but I just don't know where to start, I've barely seen a rabbit or and other quarry since I moved here.
Any of you experts in my area fancy giving me some advice/practical experience (hunting related only)
