The boys age is second to the fact that reading between the lines you neither have the money to buy or look after the dog, if you can’t afford £200-£300 to buy that dog then you can’t afford the vets bills if it hurts itself, decent food etc. People should not own dogs unless they can afford to look after them properly and what you’ve written on here doesn’t fill me with confidence...always a bad sign when someone’s primary concern when buying a dog is that it’s cheap.

Think the salient question here is should be get a dog for the boy? With the answers given by the op I would suggest that he doesn't, for the sake of the dog, not the least

If I ever bred a litter, which i have no plans to do, any I couldnt place with people I know would cost just that kind of money to ensure the buyers actually valued the pup

See I can afford to look after them, but I've had things to buy for Xmas. Dog foods not an issue, always have either redmills racer or countrymans grey hound which is made by redmills for half the price. Vet bills are never an issue either,

Understandable but I think I'm going to wait til after Xmas when all the young dogs will be up for sale as the owners can't deal with the high drive

  Fellah, I think you are on the wind-up,...nobody is as fecking foolish as you portray yourself...

You want a dog for an eight-year-old, for Christmas...but, you want it 'cheap as chips'...coz you have expenses..kids' bills', etc...

Most of us who breed, work dogs are only too willing to gift our surplus pups to genuine good, permanent, knowledgeable homes.

 Your posts, do not fill anyone with confidence that you would be a suitable candidate, for a good honest jukel..

Why not forget dogs, just get the kid an X box or some other toy,...a dog is a living, breathing critter, with feelings,..it sure ain't an Xmas commodity...

payed for most of my dogs over the years,if ive ever took a litter from them, then it's been for my own use and trusted lads,gifted,if I don't know them then I'd charge,and tell them keep in touch,still got the dog in 2 seasons, give them the coin back,....don't begrudge genuine folks asking a couple of hundred,if it's what I want then I'd pay the price....sometimes all the money in the world and muffing ones arse can't buy you certain blood.....from experience those folks have the creme de la creme

if your serious about getting a runner then check the pounds.....you could find a diamond in ruff bumped into a few folks lately with some cracking lurcher types when asked about them they came from a dogs home

a few mate....been given pups back and asked advice on linings etc,goes a long way in my book.there's a lad on here travelled up from Essex to Wales for a lurcher pup,dog just gone 2 yr old,hopefully get down to him before season ends for a run.will give him back the £80 he payed neck ,always keep my word without it a man has nothing imo

turned into a nice dog ,only other pup in the litter I gifted to friends that let us keep the wife's and daughter s horses on their farm ....after complications at the vets losing the other9 pups inside my bitch and paying almost 2 grand for the pleasure lol.not about money,I graft for mine
