You understand that they're threatening sanctions not just tariffs?

It won't matter how much we export or import if 50% of Britains trading partners are forbidden from doing so. Again the answer is pretty straight forward but Britain hasn't got the stomach for shaking up the government and loosening the barriers to business for everyone.

Then roll on the general election and let prime minister in waiting mr Farage take control of HMS Great Britain

Correct. Of those nine countries some receive more back in trade within the EU than they  put in.  When they hand the dosh over to Brussels and Brussels then divvies it out to the poorer EU count

If you want to see hatred look at the political left. From antifa to momentum to unite against hate.  We arnt full of hate we are just pissed off.  Being against giving power to the eu isn't

What the latest news has demonstrated is that May's policy of appeasement to the EU was similar to Chamberlain's appeasement towards Hitler in the 1930's. By standing up to the EU and removing any hop

The result of sanctions is the same as tariffs. The EU would also be damaging its remaining member states who sell us more than we sell them.

A new prime minister wouldn't change the EU's stance no matter who took it on.

Sanctions would be far more severe. I agree their states would be impacted but not to the degree Britain's would. They'd do what they've always done and enforce rules that subsidize members countries trading with each other to offset Britain no longer being in the market. This is how socialism has worked from the beginning. It will eventually bankrupt the EU but without a serious change of direction Britain will suffer with it to a degree. I hope Don and Boris sort out a trade deal quickly but with Britains business rates, taxes, and overall cost of existing the US isn't just going to suddenly throw money at the problem.

Don't get me wrong I want to see the EU f*ck*d off for good but Britain's entire political system is built up around decades of EU meddling and incompetence. To truly shake all of that off Britain needs to radically change how it runs things. No one has the stomach for that and it could make or break November onwards.

The EU will not change their stance now because of the UK Government's  indecision. It is to late to do anything about that now except to exit without a deal. Then the EU will offer the terms that Davies could have negotiated if he hadn't been hamstrung by his Prime Minister.

At the end of the day the best resolution for the EU is for Brexit to be cancelled. That is what they have been trying to achieve from Day 1. But,if the UK does leave then the EU will not cut off its nose to spite its face. The UK will get a far better deal than Norway or Switzerland based on it taking far more EU goods than them combined, having desirable fishing grounds and other benefits that no other country offers the EU.

The problem was and remains May's handling of the situation that did not allow the UK to maximise its leverage.

I thinks that’s all very sensible stuff Nicepix but I don’t agree the the EU won’t cut off it’s nose......I think they have to mate.

I think they know fine well that they can’t allow the UK to be seen as a success for leaving and will bankrupt almost every country in the block to put obstacles in the way.......these people are fanatics.

They know that if the UK makes a go of it, others will want out too.

That gobshite Varadkar has let his mouth write cheques his countries farming industry can’t cash.

Thing is Wilf that 'The EU' is actually two entities. One is made up of power crazed Eurocrats who are on to a good number and want to keep it that way. The other is made up of Pedro the fruit farmer, Pierre the trawler man, Fritz the car worker, Luigi who makes fridges and Hans who operates a crane at Rotterdam docks. The Eurocrats aren't likely to lose their jobs and if they do they have a gold-plated pension to fall back on so they don't give a schit. The other crew however could lose their livelihood so when the push comes to shove and the UK actually walks away they will lobby their MPs who will in turn lobby their Prime Ministers who have been telling them to keep their nerve and everything will be OK, and all of a sudden the Eurocrats will find themselves being held to account for the first time in their lives. Then things will change.

While I tend to agree with you on most of that it only covers half of the story. Don't forget that just under half of those that voted in the referendum want to stay in the EU. We've all seen the sh*tposting and propaganda that's come from that and I sincerely doubt that with that machine in place other countries will just suddenly want to take their balls home.

Like with every other socialist utopia they'll just jack up the taxes and redistribute the money to those they see fit. Like they always have done and if roughly half can't see that the emperor isn't wearing any clothes then nothing will change. The soviet union lasted 70 years. They killed millions and people still think it's a good idea. It's only because they ran out of money that they collapsed. You think these Eurocrats won't resort to authoritarianism to keep that gravy train rolling?

Communism went wrong because people were poor as church mice.......

The EU has found the way round that, they just print money and put the next 10 generations in hock to keep everyone artificially rich........all the time the new Audi (on credit) is sitting in the drive most people Couldn’t give a f**k if politicians went round and gang raped their granny !

IF it happened it didn't make the French news either and they aren't shy about reporting these sort of things.

What I did see a report about  is an isolated incident whereby one of Macron's personal security staff donned some riot gear and beat up people. This has been widely reported along with the reports about how Macron has kept the guy in a job far longer than he ought to have and the speculation about him and Macron being lovers.

No I don't. The EU have no power to compel countries to oppress their own people. In fact they took steps against Spain in respect of the way they arrested the Basque Seperatist leader and handled the attempt of independence.

I think the EU are guilty of a great deal of oppression against member states, but not in the Stalinist methods.
