Fck off with this over egged 'news'. I support brexit but if I was rich enough I'd probably try and get away because it breaks my heart daily to see what's becoming of my homeland

The EU have been trying to shaft the UK for years and, they're still trying now - look at their efforts on the level playing field and fishing.

 ........ they're a bunch of shysters  - I couldn't care less if our government breaks international laws in order to make sure that our islands get what we should have.

 ........ if they play this right, dead fishing communities all over the UK and Ireland could be thriving again.

(Not to mention the huge potential for world trade)

 

Honestly, I couldn't give a toss about the EU- I think the whole world has seen them for what they are: a nasty little group of politicians with 4th Reich ambitions. 

 

Any minor international laws that the UK bends or breaks will soon be forgotten.

You often see "a woman scorned" in parliament, and May is no exception.

She's allways been a "remainer", and even when it dawned on her that we were leaving, she did everything she could to keep us as closely aligned to the EU as possible, a vassal state in all but name.

She had to resign as Prime Minister and will never forgive Boris and the Brexiteers, so I give no credence to her pronouncements on Brexit.

What I don't understand is why Parliament today will be debating a Bill to make free, unfettered trade between the four home nations a law ! 

Surely it's allways been that way, and if the Withdrawal Agreement hinders that trade, then it isn't fit for purpose and should be amended or disregarded.

Of course it's all to do with the Irish border, but if we say we will not have customs or immigration checks on the Irish border, this puts the ball in the EU and Irelands court. 

Let them decide if they want the restrictions !

People (and the media) keep saying “The Irish Border”.......far as I can see it’s NOT the Irish border, it’s the EU border and the EU want it.

Ireland and the UK have the CTA and all that go’s with it so ireland and the UK don’t actually have a problem in that regard.

Obviously there is the nationalist angle to all this but that’s got f**k all to do with trade or the CTA

Wilf, the CTA concerns travel but not trade or customs. You're right, it IS an EU border, the only land border the U.K. has with the EU.

The UK and Ireland have a very peculiar relationship with each other, there's nothing else like it in the world, and it's simply incompatible with EU rules. Ireland, as a member of the EU CANNOT make trade or customs deals with any country, including the UK, one of the main reasons for the UK leaving.

Its a dilemma I can't figure out, and have no confidence in politicians not making a complete f**k up of !

The only solution I can see is Ireland either leaving the EU or reunification of Ireland, neither of which I can see happening in my life time.

I agree mate, just seems silly seeing as they have so many reciprocal arrangements over so many other official government things.

Sadly, in my opinion, Ireland decided to align itself with the EU and not the UK. That is their right.

BUT , now that the UK has left the EU, the status quo can't be maintained; as I've said, many of the advantageous agreements between Ireland and the U.K. are incompatible with EU laws and rules, and will need to be changed.

This is what happens when you are not a sovereign nation and can't make or apply your own laws.
