They're already everywhere and being bred the f**k out of.90% of them are complete nervous bags of shit that dont ever compare to to the Neo for guarding instinct or nerve.And they are only a made up bandog of types anyway just a shit one.And if they're physically right then they wouldnt need crossing anyway.

I didn't know that about the breed, only what david hancock write, and he never tested the breed like you have prob done, so I rather you see the breed for what it really is. Do you know if and where then they breed good temp and healthy Neos? As most KC. Neos are very unhealthy not long lived dogs and pay over £1800  and dog dead at 6 year old,

I remember English Mastiffs over here 40 years ago being leaner but big boned with pretty serious attitude and didn't need crossing,but it was a different time.

Not really To be fair Ive seen plenty with solid temperaments and nerves but they're all pretty shit physically.Although my pal who has the brindle bandog that I put up a few posts back had a cracking bitch that was a pure fluke.Rangey and only about 120lb and not too over wrinkled in the face.Ive also got a pal in Holland that has 2 crackers that he got from Germany.There was also another kennel over here breeding some decent specimens but despite what their paperwork said they'd definitely been outcrossed.The thing is with the Neos most of their problems have arose from being bred so oversized.If you can get one not too overdone and cross it to a decent bulldog that can be sorted But if you've got a mastiff type with shit nerves you're on a non starter because shit nerves will always keep throwing out in future litters

From Colonel Hancock's the Heritage of the Dog. No details of the dog given in the book other than a German Boxer. Always assumed post WW2 Germany as the author was stationed there as part of the British Army on the Rhine. I like the dog but always find the picture a bit comical from the aspect of dogs looking like their owners and vice versa.

I have noticed a slow but steady increase in Boxer dogs around were I live for quite a while now. The original dogs that people owned tended to conform with modern show Boxer ideal, rather light weight and uncharacteristically athletic. There seems to have been a change in type over the years though. I notice dogs with more substance, broader, heavier and more powerful heads yet still fit and healthy looking animals.

I wonder if this is down to people breeding them who do not know what they are doing? They are not aware of the KC standard and indiscriminately put a conveniently located dog over their bitch. They are not selectively breeding for show points as they are not aware of them. The results being a more "bully" type of animal reverting back to type of the breeds' origin. The Boxers that I see around here now are nicer looking animals than those of years ago IMO.

The dogs like that top one are f***ing hideous but they are the extreme show dogs There are still a fair few about that are closer to the bottom one than the top.Maybe a bit heavier but im pretty sure Ive seen that bottom dog and its not a pure Neo.

It is just something that I have noticed with several KC breeds once they become very popular with pet owners or peddlers. They don't selectively breed for the unnatural show points that came about due to poorly drafted or misinterpreted breed standards and 'accidentally ' start producing animals closer to the original within several generations. 

Seen it with Staffords and also probably why some lines of Fox Terriers (not pet breeders or peddlers) on mainland Europe are not as 'freakish 'as the ones that show people continue to breed. 

Probably got way too much time on my hands at the minute, way off the original thread I know.

That bottom dog you would not of seen before unless you were searching the history of the Neo dogs long dead that dog.

No,you have a good point and hadn't thought about that to you mentioned it.Maybe gives a glimmer of hope for some breeds people have written off.

I've searched a lot of history on them.Im sure its behind the dogs of a well known working kennel in the states.
