Feck feeding another dog , just put up a couple of Isis flags .. got the police watching my house 24/7 now ?

I married a Northern lass good with kids bit agressive around house & can cook. No one visits anymore. Atb

If you want a yard dog and something to guard your kennels i personally dont think you can beat a well bred bandog type.Naturally territorial, generally not dog aggressive if properly socialised, physic

Couldn't be doing with a Mali as a guard dog or  a pp dog.I'll stick with the bandogs.Totally laid back around people all the time im relaxed around them and like all my neighbor's say If we hear your dog bark we get up and have a look because we know shes doing it for a reason.

Sounds just like my bitch a family pet, great with kids but always alert and not just to what's going on in my yard! She's boxer rottie x pit so most probs the rottie in her. Hassel free guard for what she does!

A couple of Bandogs from Carl Semencic's World of Fighting Dogs. No idea of the validity or knowledge that the man who wrote the book had of these types of dog (more than mine which is zero) but there are some photographs of very impressive looking animals in it.

Thats Dr Swinford who first started his bandog programme back in the 70s.Semenic wrote a lot of inaccuracies in that book regarding different breeds but regarding Swinfords bandogs he wrote that swinfords preferred cross was Neo/pit when in fact it was English mastiff/pit although he did do a few Neo breedings.

What was the book years back that used to tell you how to breed a ban dog? Mind a mate telling me all about em after he read the book? Can mind for a few years after that bandogs were all folk would talk about ?

Published in 1984. Most of the breeds featured were exotic very rare breeds at the time in the UK. Within 10 years I could have used it as a kind off "spotters guide" and tick them off when trying to exercise my own dogs.

Anyone had dealings with Akita’s? I’ve never really seen the appeal

Few people I've spoken  to that had them as pets or  pets/burglar detterents have either had the males castrated or sold them on or given them away by age of 3,

Have started seeing one walked every Saturday in local town last month.

Be interesting to see if he keeps it.

My younger brother got an akita, he's getting on now 11/12 Yr old, 100% around my 4 nephews and niece's, in his prime he would shake and put down anyone my brother told it too.... Had a hatred of smack heads and pakies lol, police went there once heavy handed..... Hit bottom panel in, and an officer went through..... Took 4 of his colleagues to pull him to safety ?most feared dog on the estate..... I know a few other lads with them and I'd stay the other side of the fence... ?

Downsouth-thanks for the reply, certainly a powerful mix and adds the functionality that Mastiff types had in their original form.Going back 10 years now a friend said he had seen some U.S mercenaries out in one of their conflict zones,Middle East somewhere with what sounded very much like a bandog type,I didn’t know they were used by special forces etc.

Bird-Appreciate the replies also. You have to be a light sleeper to keep a bat next to the bed,I’m not,and would probably wake up with someone holding my bat !lol. The dogs sound the alarm like you say,and that’s all we need really unless your business is Narcotics! in which case, fill the yard with Presas!

Only dealing I've had with one was when I was a kid...got out of it's house and chased us so we ran into the nearest house and had to slam it's head in the front door lol

these 2 are on pet for homes as workers with a new litter a few days old! If I had the money they are the kinda pup I'd get for guarding, look at the condition of both and they have a great write up on temp and health! Quality pet/guard IMO atb Criss
