ido like bandogs and the bulltype guards having had bullmastiffs in the 80s, but what ive found on average like most of these types there are a quite dogs dont bark alot, dont get me wrong carnt stand yapping dogs, my 2 dogs (lurchers) never bark even tough there herding type xs. but i remember talking to a dog trainer who used train RAF dogs and help train police dogs, he told me you deff need a vocal guard, because in this day age where burglars they either poison a dog or shoot it ,this serious theives  not pill heads etc.so dog like well bred gsd or like been sad on here acd dogs that bark and bite, you need to warned a good  100yds that somebody about,so your ready to deal with it before they gt there, and i think he right what he said deff.  my mates boebol bitch stop most blokes but she  fairly vocal so good alround guard dog ,dont know if all the breed are the same if so , they betype of guard dog to keep.

Any pictures of your mates boarboel bird.?

Feck feeding another dog , just put up a couple of Isis flags .. got the police watching my house 24/7 now ?

I married a Northern lass good with kids bit agressive around house & can cook. No one visits anymore. Atb

If you want a yard dog and something to guard your kennels i personally dont think you can beat a well bred bandog type.Naturally territorial, generally not dog aggressive if properly socialised, physic

Id expect any guarding breed to react to aggressive behaviour though.I had pet dogs as a kid that would bite someone or at least kick off if someone was acting up.What im talking about is picking up on or spotting subtle behaviours or vibes that we wouldnt pick up on in somebody. In my village we have loads of eastern European farmworkers that we are always passing on our walks. If we come across any Poles or Russian/Ukrainian types she will just walk past and ignore them or occasionally go over for a fuss if they pay her a bit of attention. Now and again we'll be walking and she'll spot some in the distance and her whole body language will change. She'll stiffen up head raised and sometimes have a little growl and I'll have to call her over and lead her up.Now this might be from 500yds away but the closer we get the stronger her body language will get and shell try pacing herself between me and them and sure enough as we get closer they'll be the greasy looking shell suit and shoe wearing type of Eastern Europeans.I dont know what it is but shes picked up on something from all that distance away.

I know my dog is only a mix up of three breeds but some how she seems to balance them up very well. She sounds very similar in behaviour to your dog, what's in the breeding if you don't mind me asking? Mines not the most trust of everyone but as everyone who knows will tell you she's like jekel and hide. She's the loving family dog with family and friends, especially kids. But someone could kick off and she turns. Best bit is she reacts to the amount of aggression shown. If I walk her at night she goes straight in to guard mode in me village or town but if it's an elderly person walking towards us no matter how big they are she's OK same with a young lad say 13 but then someone else could come and she just changes. It's like she knows who I should b considering as a threat and warns. Unlike your dog tho she tends to go from carrying her head high to down low. Is this similar traits to bandogs? I would like the same in a dog but not sure if another dog would? Atb Criss

Having a dog that barks if somebody is within 100yds is alright if you dont live within 100yds of anything or anyone. If mine barks i get up and see why night or day because they'll be a reason.I couldnt think of anything worse than a dog thats constantly barking at the kids playing a few doors away or workmen across the road.I reckon with a dog like that youll end up just shouting at the c**t to shut up half the time along with pissing half your neighbours off.

its very easy to stop a gaurding type dog or a pp dog from getting poisoned just simply train it in food refusals very easy done i don't understand why more people don't do it with there dogs as for the gun not much you can train for that bit at lest with a shot going of give you abit of time

thought i put a pic on before, i have look in my album  later , my comp down at moment using my wife LT , last time i seen the boerbol bitch was  dec, she 24in  160lb  like feckin tank, and having black muzzle looks bloody frighting  , there top class guards, but a ban type x breed dog be more healthy , she already had probs with her knees, i think there to heavy, and getting prob inter bred to much. she cost £1700 quid, her op on her knee cost £1000 , better of with bandog or as ive said before working bred gsd from E/E lines there healthy good hips etc and bold temps, and lot cheaperto buy than some of the big heavy type guards.

I like the bull mastiffs.my granparents had 3 when i was growing up and i remember 1 in particular.i was 8ish when they got him.we sirt of grew up together.i used to walk him on my own never had a problem.i remember a incident out side if school once with people screaming and cars braking...if was fred pulling my grandad across the roundabout to meet me.

Anyway bullmastiffs are f****d now so should i win the lottery and actually have something worth nicking i like the boarboels.

I had a bullterrier, wouldn't guard the house, loved everyone especially kids. It only happened a few times but on a walk he'd see someone from over 100 yards away or more, he'd go alert, kick up his back legs and let out a growl, it happened so rarely I trusted his judgement that it was a wrong un .  Once had a row with a bloke walking his racing greyhounds "worth thousands mate" in the park, I had the bullterrier back on the lead and as he came towards me he let out the lowest growl i'd ever heard off him stopped the bloke in his tracks!

Once you've a bond with your dogs i'd trust them to pick up on things i'd might not even notice, that sense they've got is amazing!

ps as the bull terrier got older he still loved everyone except east European gypsies, man woman or child he'd show his dislike on the street or in the car, whether this was from them bin poking or picking something up from me or a natural reaction i'll never know.

Two doors away from me there's a dog that every time she's out she barks, she's a big lump, so she's got a nice deep bark, I've often said she probably needs more exercise to knacker her out. I don't mind the bark cos it probably gets on the muslims and the romanian gypsies nearby  nerves, if it was a little yappy thing it would probably do my nut in!

What's the breeding in that? Is she smut marked or has she jut been rolling in the mud?

That's my pit/am bulldog bitch out of the other pic.Just bathed her was rolling in dirt, but older now.She looks how she is,would take your calf muscle off if you approached. She's my ideal guard dog, ugly mean as shit and a dog no one would try to steal. On the other side, very loving to family and all other animals with no hunting instinct,so doesn't wander.
