The recommended muzzle-energy punch for FAC .177 air rifle tuning is about 16 to 18 foot pounds of energy, as a general rule of thumb, if you are to combine increased power with effective accuracy.

I saw this interesting video of fac .177 a while back and this is only 25 ft lbs.

It took Daystate years to develop the Wolverine 303 which shoots at 100 ft/lbs so maybe your  mates "mate" is in the wrong job.Wouldn't of thought .177 would carry that far but then I am an expert on

I would say it's bollocks. You could fire a ping pong ball out of an air cannon but it's not going to go very far and it ain't gonna' have any accuracy, same goes for a .177 pellet. When you start adding power/force you need mass to carry it and stabilise it.

I can absolutely confirm that's total BULLSHIT, as earlier in this topic refer those concerned to the youtube of Ted's Holdover, he shows it slo mo on video, OR just guide the idiot to research a little and there are many threads on why fac airrifle owners restrict their guns to under 950 fps...

when air rifle pellets are concerned, above 900 fps accuracy starts to fade, and from 950 up velocity and accuracy are inversely proportional. Fact.

I KNOW this to be true from my own gun,

HW97K tuned FAC .177

So,  your average .177 pellets would not withstand the blast of 100ft/lbs of energy blasting into the thin skirts of your average diablo waisted pellet. Probably, these will shatter and just get spat out in fragments. Certainly they would just skid over the rifling grooves without properly spiralling along them and lose all gyroscopic spin stability. The pellet would just exit the barrel and zip wildly off to the left or right at near right angles. You need a really heavy caliber pellet to hit with precision accuracy at  ranges of over 100 yards. Something like .303, .357 calibre, and only from a pre charged PCP rifle.

Long story short. He's talking cack!

.45 Calibre that. Hell of a gun though! The "pellets" you use in them are closer to shotgun slugs than conventional airgun pellets. Watched a video by a guy on youtube shooting one and it was mental, serious range but he was having to shoot it straight off the bottle. Should think the air it uses up is insane.

Hes talking BS , All 177 start to lose accuracy after 50 yards, both sub 12 and fac thats why 100 yard bench shooting is done with .22/.25 and some .30. Yet hes trying to say his mates gun is bulls eyeing at 125 metres ( 136.7 yards ) ?

50 yards???

Think she's been pulled in once or twice after viewer's didn't believe she was shooting sub 12,  police returned her gun's so obviously all legit !! ?

Cubley Cat ? iirc. 50 yards is well documented for 177 amongst the 100 yard bench rest shooters. There is a big difference between long range plinking and actual competition .

There certainly is a big difference  between long range plinking and competition but under ideal conditions and the best pellet for your rifle, there's no reason you can't push .177 out to 65-68 yards for hunting imo certainly enough power left for an instant kill, just need to put in the homework .A bi-pod and a rangefinder ideally too!  ?

he got confused is all, everyone knows .22 is what you need sub 12lb/ft for Cape Buffalo or Kudu at over 100yds ..177 Is only used on Ibex or dik dik ,small sized deer but ok upto 75  yds .When he gets back to the shelter tell his doctor to alter the green pill for the little yellow 1 as the side effects are getting worse
