Reading through the post it would seem there should be more wastage in bitches than dogs ,is this acceptable though !.

My taughts are if your bitch line isnt right your dogs won’t be long going the same way

Very little wastage in the line I’m taking about fd, as the bitches are expected to work in the same manner as the dogs I think it keeps the standard high.

Some lads seem to think a bitch will never be as good as a dog. Your standard should be the same wheather it’s a bitch or dog. No double standards

I do on the whole expect a slightly different work style from my bitches they  are on the whole more user friendly where as the dogs as I only breed from dogs with one type of drive and that is overdrive, they may need a rest now and then, I try to let others have them and keep to my girls the only standard is stay til dug or draw or bolt dog or bitch

From what I have bred from my own and from what I've seen from the same line their is no difference in them work wise apart from the obvious bitchs tend to come smaller not always but they do.I myself have 4 bitchs here all sisters 2 are smallish not real small but not like their other sisters who are doggy type bitchs big and strong.as for wastage on the bitch side of things I would expect bitchs to work same as dogs no reason why they should not size or not as the old saying goes its not the size of the dog in the fight its the size of the fight in the dog. I've seen big terriers sit back well of their quarry where smaller terriers would be right up tight.the type I keep like to rough it up a bit no sitting back which I prefer but still not stupid .

The problem is some lads wrap there bitches up in cotton wool after only a hand full of digs for fear of losing them,how do they know if there any good?as most dogs start of there careers all guns blazing ,

(Could) the same be said for some lads with dogs, after a hand full a digs and they'll call him the best dog they ever dug over. Give me 500 and ya can have some of his semen. This happen far to often .

Alot them lads got above themselves thought they were going to be the next big thing alot of that stuff after been used as backfill now I reckon.

No it's not acceptable but if the bitchs aren't right then you will have a problem with the pups and the dogs. The dogs will become just fighters and not workers.Same applies if you have poor dogs but good bitchs. They need to be good both sides but bitchs are harder get. If someone added up all the best digging terriers they know then I bet males would be higher in numbers. That doesn't make the line of bitchs weaker. It's nature. Take a pride of lions for example. The male has the advantage. He's bigger, stronger faster and more dominant so the females submit to him. The females do all the hunting and catching though. He just walks in after the jobs done and takes the gravy. Without his protection/ power they wouldn't survive either. They have to be right both sides but the bitchs have to work that little bit harder to do what he can do with ease.

The best bitchs don't always throw the best pups either I had a very good bitch here years ago and her sisters were decent enough workers all died in ground at various times but they never through anything worth talking about bitchs at that time would of had plenty work behind them bred to very capable dogs with plenty work behind them and all of very decent stock on paper should of produced something. I see very mediocre bitchs bred of certain stuff in the Midlands and they produced capable dogs for a time I think over time the most were found wanting the more work was put in front of them. I find it at 90% failure rate at least of what I've seen of it here now some lads down this side have spent good money for the same bred stuff and coming out with better results but I honestly believe the dogs haven't the work put in a dig here and there keep them ticking over but not tested I suppose ya have ta keep the pretence up ta keep sales up lol.
