Underdog 2,337
Whilst in North Wales I picked up some BP from a gun shop in Bangor. Whilst there I noticed they were selling off some lead ball. Turns out non of them were of any use to me except for maybe the .760". Maybe I can resize them below ole' Bess's bore of .750" ! When I get home I dig out a wad punch and cut them down to .737". Today I shot 3 at an old brick wall. Shot one hit the brick I was aiming for Shot two went a little high and shot three landed on shot one! This is brilliant in my opinion. Provided I can get close enough, there is, if called upon, nothing this gun can not take. The squirrels were taken with shot. The wadding was the paper taken from an old wasps nest. A thorough cleaning that took all of 15 minutes and she is sparkling again. B. Edited September 16, 2018 by Underdog 8 2 Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
Great stuff Nathan, It’s just so refreshingly different from the norm Quote Link to post
Meece 1,957
I know that you did it but what is going to happen if or when the Ball rotates and the 760 bit dia of the ball engages with the 750 dia of the barrel dia ? You wall wrecker you. A friend of mine is a black powder retro fellow. He has a Brown Bess percussion musket by I think Laing in 729 and a double percussion 12 bore shotgun. Hes a bit of a tite wad and they only seeļ the light òf day once in a blue moon but the smoke and noise are entertaining. If and when he turns out. Fair ole thump when he fires it and it chips stuff down easily. You wouldn't drop your trousers and tease him out to 45 to 50 paces. Edited September 17, 2018 by Meece Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
As a matter if interest, do you know what they weigh? Can't be far off a 1oz shotgun slug - if not more. Quote Link to post
