New to hunting and field sports looking for advice

Hi

I am trying to get started in the outdoor sports. Recently taken up fishing and spotting animals while i am out walking. I would like to get into hunting with an eye for gathering skin and meat. I recently bought an air rifle and have fun plinking tagets at my allotment but i understand there are laws about shooting at animals. 

I have read a few articles that talk about getting farmers permission and helping out other pest controlers to get contacts but i am not sure how to go about this. 

I am in the leeds LS10 area and would apreciate and help contacts that people might know.

Hello and welcome mate , just remember all land belongs to somebody ask for permission before you do anything and you won't go far wrong

Thanks. part of my problem is finding out who owns what. And finding those that want me to come in a get rid of theirs pest/my dinner.

first off welcome to the mad house

Right thats out of the way lol

1 Get out and knock on doors ,,farms,,,golf clubs,,,horse paddocks,,,so on and so on.

2 dress smart dont where camo or any hunting gear .

3 leave your rifle at home DONT take it with you

4 all ways be polite when talking to them EVEN when they tell you to Fe**k off and some will.

5,,,Get some vermin control cards made up ,,vista print is the cheapest i find

land owners tend to get rid of letters but keep the cards.

6,,Dont tell them you shoot air rifles strait away some dont like air rifles .

7..Offer some free work or a week ends work to help them out farmers tend to like this

and all ways respect there wishes if they do give you permission to shoot 

get to know the land .

where you can go and cant some may only give you a few fields at first so if you see rabbits or other in a field they have not given you DO NOT ENTER AND START SHOOTING

they tend to watch you at first they will see you but you wont see them .

8,,You may get lucky and get one first knock but then again you may knock on a 100 doors and not get any thing

but farmers talk and if some one has a vermin problem then they may pass your card on to them .

There are a few lads on here from leeds ,,just get stuck into the threads and let the lads trust you and a nights or days shooting may come up .

and if it dose respect there wishes as well ,,dont and do nots .
