There are all sorts of scams some outright illegal fraud and others that play on various weaknesses. There are the we will buy your unfinished term endowment insurance policies. Release equity from your home. Down to we buy any car. All of these paint a rosy picture of you getting instant money to do whatever you like with. And although they would all say that you dont have to comit to do anything and that the individual has the right to dispose of any item for any price, it is a rip off. I know of one woman whose husband died and she took a small loan against the equity of her house. She had to give this company her deeds. Every year the company adds a rolling commission charge against the loan. And it wont be many more years before they own the whole property outright. She didnt see that as an outcome.
