Small knife

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps, looking to purchase a small knife to take with me in the field, don't want anything flashy or expensive, in a sheath with its own sharpening stone I can attach to a belt, I've seen a fair few magpies on the perm the last few times I've been and would,nt mind trying dead bugsy as bait for them and the Mrs would,nt want me taking the steak knives out ☺... Thankyou

I'm no expert on steel but the Opinels do take an edge and have been around a long time, they also seem to stain on the blade in 5 minutes!

I use a cheap little 1" locker on a key ring.

I think it cost me about 2 quid.

It's done rabbits, pigeons, squirrels, twine, wire, all sorts.

If you look after any blade, it should serve you well

....... This one's been going for about 4 years.

I like opinels used a good few but found they snapped n if got wet the handle would swell.

Nothing wrong with a wee opinel but the colour of the handle i now lean towards a bright coloured plastic handle so ifi drop it or lay it on the ground i can see it right away and no need to search for it

thats what i go for now a red handle , learned my lesson buying cammo dog leads . but i bring all my rabbits home and gut them the next morning when i get up putting the guts into tubs for bait for fox wires so its going to be a miracle if i loose another knife now
