Sometimes, If you really have something special,  leaving it until 6 years is too late. They often fail to make old bones.

Personally,...when choosing a performance type stud dog,..a beast that is required to pass on, specialist attributes,?...I would like to know just who is coming to the party.  However, for a rous

All depends in situation and if the dogs from a good line preferably have 3 seasons and proved itself to a decent standard of work and a good temperament why not

If you put in enough work, of whatever type, to a dog, you should know long before it's 5 or six years of age, if it's worth breeding from. Not trying to be clever, but alot of people are waiting far too long to use potentially great dogs at stud because 'everyone else' says 'they need at least 4 or 5 years graft' before they'd consider using them. ....... hogwash!

Should the 6 or 7 year old stud dog only be allowed to cover 6 or 7 year old bitches?????

In my eyes yes but I can’t speak for others but I’d breed from a bitch that’s 6 yrs old An have done as a first litter

Mate I get what your saying in a sense but if your only breeding for your self (not like half the f**k witts that are in it to peddle)an you have no interest in swapping dogs out every couple of season  what’s the rush I mean you could easily over dog ones self fast if you breed at that rate An work rate to any dog would drop of over dogged.
