They were bred by Collie John who had the mother which was the 3/4 reversed. But I don’t think he will mind me telling you that she was a bit of a special dog, very racy, like nothing I have seen before. They didn’t lack speed,  probably faster that most 1st crosses.

Sadly my one died during an operation a few weeks back, she reacted badly to the anaesthetic, never had a sick day in her life and was really fit and healthy. My wife, mum and nephews were in pieces, she was a very good and protective dog, would’t take her eye off my nephews when out with them. Sadly missed.

Sorry to hear that Andy had her litter sister Gwen put to sleep last October due to cancer have her son Dan in my kennels he's the last of the old lines still going.Regards Collie John

Hi,..can't locate any first cross images at the moment,...but these Collie infused youngsters are fairly typical of lurchers that are a mix of Whippet, greyhound, and herder. Banjo Jak

Hi John, sad to hear, their mum didn’t make old age either, as a mid sized healthy cross breed I was expecting her to well out live my bedlington? But I guess a bad reaction to anaesthetic is quite a random thing on her part.

She had a good life here, bonded with my mum from a pup so I was always second, but great  family dog. If I live somewhere a bit rural I may get another collie grey  one day, a lot of dog in a fifteen kg package.

Something with gsd and/or whippet, would be my guess ?. Have to say mind, I agree with him in some ways. Most of the better lurchers I've ever seen had whippet blood in them, especially some of the grey/collie/whippet types ?

There's an old saying- a lion doesn't need to tell  others he's a lion. ?

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

Hi to all, so I've never owned a whippet before and have encountered an irritating habit that got worse in the last month of ferreting and was wondering if anyone out there has had success minimising noise during ferreting?
So he runs prey silently, almost never barks at home so I was very happy going into his first winter, but.... when the ferret slot machine is not paying out fast enough for his liking he yips at the holes he senses are near the underground action. On top of that, if he runs a bolted rabbit to ground again he persistently barks at the hole while constantly looking at me as if to say "get them ferrets over here mate, I've got one for you"
I've a very experienced collie lurcher who is a dream to ferret with but the whippet seems to make no reference to the good stuff he does. Any ideas on managing this?

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea
