Two questions

Evening all 

I rarely post anything on but regularly have a look to see what is going on, anyway I have been shotgun shooting and ferreting for a number of years but have just been given my first airgun.  It's not pretty, the chap found it whilst moving and had forgotten about it so gave it to me, it is a hw97k and has been some what mistreated so I would like to know the best products and ways to bring the stock, action and barrel back to looking good? Also it has an SMK scope on but the crosshairs seem huge what scope would you recommend?

Have a look at Bigmacs post on stocks , easy to do just time consuming 

The internal probably need sorting out which is easy to do 

The bluing is the hardest part ,if you want it better than new then Colin Malloy is the best 

Scope just have a look through a few ,IMO you cant go wrong with Hawke scopes

Time is your best friend when sorting the stock

stripping it back is easy its the smoothing out that takes the time

use a good paint stripper to remove the lacquer and an old knife BUT not the sharp edge turn the knife over and use the blunt edge and scrape the lacquer off .

give it a bath after this to remove the crap that will still be on ,,,dry it off with an old towel or the likes

then start sanding it back DO NOT USE A COARSE sand paper this will put deep scratches in to the wood

If your lucky most of the stain will come out with the paint stripper

and using the blunt edge of the knife will leave no deep marks on it so it may just be a case of smoothing it out a little

slowly slowly catch the monkey

rush it and you will feck it .
