If they were the best at that you would see them on the fens not saluki X's If they were the best dog for teeth lads doing good numbers of them wouldn't have bull and wheaten X's I think they are a good allrounder that will do most jobs but not b the best or specialise in any one qaurry

This is my 14 week old, deer hound/ greyhound/ collie. Bought from a chap in huddersfield, who runs this cross but it looks like he has a lot of collie in him but both sire & dam, have no white in them at all & they both look very deer houndish but this pup has thrown the collie look.

Now im not slagging them off and i dont know much about them but the doxhope fella in one his books says that his bred down ones were miles better than his f1s at rabbits and from the photos they look like medium sized smooth coated lurchers of any other cross

Aye that's what I were thinking every first X has limitations source something bred for a few generations doing the job ( maybe even with a drop of something else in there) should give you a more capable animal

Well, I don't know about any first cross type being the best at any one thing. But I have to say, the first cross deer/greys I have seen, have been better general alround lamp dogs, taking good numbers of a variety of quarry, than any other first cross.

Isn’t there some fella somewhere breeding Wheaton in to pure deerhounds then crossing them in to greys trying to put some fire into them ..sure I read it on here

No ive not or a bad one no one has them round here i dont know ote but when a deerhound enthusiast says his best dogs were at least 34 greyhound or outcrossed to other lurchers theres gorra be summat in it

During the late 1980s, we put the first cross Deerhound/Greyhounds back to sheepdog blooded lurchers,..they were smashing dogs,..far more versatile than the F1...
