Anshultz 1417 outing

Out with rimmy for an hour,a few nice buck rabbits for the pot for my efforts on a lovely evening

Nice going and very nice scenery to shoot in. I also have the 1417 but with a sporting stock although I far prefer a thumbhole any day.

Bog standard 1417 thumbhole,great rifle imo very accurate and handle very well,I don’t think it’s heavy feels light actually,shot a million rounds through an old Bruno and upgraded to this

I have one, nice and lightweight, great trigger and very accurate. I can’t think of any other production.22 that I’d prefer.

Must admit that I do not like the stock too much on mine and have been toying with getting an after market adjustable stock which I really like the idea.

No idea of pricing but be sure they will not be cheap. I am going to look around at the game fair in July to see what is on show.

I’ve never thought about a new stock as happy with the one in it,but il have a window shop

I take the view that I buy a gun that I want/need to start with (or as close as I can possibly get).  I don't buy a gun and then throw chunks of it away and replace them!

Guns are tools to me, in some cases I find them aesthetically pleasing, but any changes I "may" make to any gun are designed to enhance its PERFORMANCE and not make it look pretty! (sometimes it may be possible to improve aesthetics and performance simultaneously)

Nothing wrong with enhancing a gun any way the individual wants if it makes them happy, but I personally don't understand aesthetic improvements that bring no enhanced performance.

The thumb hole stocks on the anschutz’ are made by custom stock of Sheffield for ruag.

That was my point, I am not too happy with my existing stock but not sure if it is worth the money spending on it. It was never a tackle tart approach to shooting or gun ownership.
