back when I started a long long time ago ,saluki was introduced direct to peoples existing lurchers to improve coursing ability, but little did they know just how important these crosses would become

I’ve always worked off the principle that if a animal was bred for a specific purpose the pups will be genetically predisposed to gravitate towards that purpose, actually catching game in this ca

breading the ideal lurcher is a tricky one to say the least, some want this some want that etc etc,, not to big not to small, with coursing dogs it was slightly easier because its more of a specialist

It's right what's been said find a collies xs grey with umpteen gens workers same could be said of lots a types there may be odd uns ,but coursing types are streets ahead of all the Xes family best ob best over many decades ,thing his now it's the norm  they mostly all carry very good lines.yeah nice pic  t two crows  ,,there's plenTy bits as types about these parts lthey all have the saluki in there in some way or other from tor Dartmoor or gingers Luke, they add massive pluses .atb bill

I can't see what a reverse cross would do any better.  Maybe make decent guards. For most they'd be a tad slow.

The same could be said of collie xs greys plenty them about and I'd hold money that they would be lots faster ,has fa guards very probable bu on thinking of this Buck don't guard funny thing ain't Idog genetics one can throw very different we have lurcher xs malli that catches daytime long ears running em not snyping or mugging them and fa what it's worth on some accounts Buck ain't a slow animal far from it.bullxs f1s some keep they do a job remember a jukel his fa lurchers game not coursing there's better type stock fa that,a well. Bred type at times can be superior of mixtures that ain't nicked.there's plenty xs types out there that ain't got much of the qualities retained by with sire or dam and that's a fact look at history it tells ther that some of phenomenal cur types are nothing but just that.atb bill

But surely buck to a malinois would be slower than buck.

When you mention malinois crosses catching hares ,they'd be at near 1/2 greyhound ,theses would be a 1/4 .

Reverse crosses may be ideal for some that want dogs to be a ferreters dog or a moocher but I'd say a step backwards for a lurcher ,generally, anyway.

Of course they suit some and some will say they know a dog that does this or that ,but for the most part they would suit very few.

  Just my take on things

Royboy those we bred were not half x greyhound but I know  what ya saying it would all depend what you need and where yas run ,those early mins haw breeds were nothing but lurcher collie curs.and what I am told Buck   Faster             than most f1 cur types but he would be he from a fabulous staying grey ,plus a working bred cheque. Alsation.fa most it's not about out and out running ,ask trigger how his sapling was doing till injury he stopped stuff very early on  that lots of bull xes would struggle with.,it's like everything what yas want to run and where , and how biddable thy needs ya jukels need one that works by hand signals whistles a jukel that stays sound ,plus ilike a jukel that don't stand out I mooch estates broad daylight innocently looking fa a certain specie of edible  ya bull xes yas coursing types ya average lurcher type stand out.i know are fast enough or cover ground well enough da the species in forestry ,lots a fast types would struggle with or come a cropper,I suppose yas right they only suit a few but it's a very narrow view when yas  don't know first hand.mallinois catch coneys easily even easier on the dales and like .and I believe I could condition a pure of the right breeding to fill a freezer no problem .how many reds a session these bull coursing type yas keep in a session how many cinema how many big edible ,believe me unless yas looking for match type animals on game ,things have a funny way levelling out over. A season or so.i have owned kept coursing types some of ours have but the talked about coursing bred on here over the last few yrs produced runners for us with shit feet shit brain shit stamina and I believe you have the very same blood in your Bulls coursing types .its very easily to decry a type  but I believe one should have first hand knowledge like I do perhaps we were unlucky and has the saying goes it was in all probability the bitch.but trust me hthe said animal was pushing dandelions up when found out..atb bill
