Sadly as I see it….. it is yet another case of history repeating itself. It’s not the first time that a very small and unrepresentative minority who have, by their actions and callous behaviour/

True, but it would give the honest decent lads something to protect their names with. It's never been any different, in my lifetime all you've had to do is buy yourself a terrier and "just like t

So predators killed and eat badger cubs , how does this give us a bad name ? Think before you reply .....who needs f***ing anti's

Please lads lets not make judgement before anyone has seen the show. The BBC is an anti fieldsports channel and are well capable of forging evidence and editing material to cast terriermen and other sportsmen in a bad light.

So watch the show before casting assumptions. Sadly one way or the other terrierwork will be cast in a bad light.

Unfortunately we don't have the channel here so fingers crossed for you boys who all abide by the law.

No they was shot, and this don't look good when they leave them next to public footpath, I've been around terriers lurchers all my life and in my opinion the few that do these things f..k it up for those who keep with in the law.

First you said you had found badgers ripped to pieces on a farm you work... ripped to pieces was your exact words..as if some how somebody with a dog or dogs had done this...

Now your saying they were shot... shot being you could see the holes in them from A SINGLE OR MULTIPLE firearm shot..SO THEY WERE not RIPPED TO PIECES AS YOU FIRST POTRAYED!..very worrying when a man trys to say he is at dogs all his life yet comes out with this pure BILE... ANTI  shite...

And it doesn't look good when their next to a public footpath... How do you know it wasn't a member of the public who has a FAC who done this as they were shot.. straight away your trying to condemn terrier men for doing such an evil and cruel act... what sort of clown are you...

First off it is a highly illegal offence to disturb, touch or harm a badger or its sett in anyway... secondly any terrierman with any notion of terrier work KNOWS this and does his upmost best to work within the perimeters of the LAW... AND STAYS AS FAR AWAY FROM A BADGER OR ITS ACTIVE SETT as humanly possible..

As Glynn has already pointed out who needs ANTIs when there are folk like you jerry71 ...coming out with misinformed CRAP like you have just wrote....

No wonder half the people don't post on here anymore ffs...

There’s hunting men and then there’s men that go hunting......and the men who go hunting get caught cause they wanna show and tell everything they captured on their state of the art camera phone, there’s is no short supply of ammo for  these groups, it’s just a shame who’s supplying the ammo . Terrier work is dying out, but all this crap is just making it go abit faster

Right I should have said from the start the land I work my dogs on as had problems with w..... Kers taking deer. Breaking into barns etc, The farmer found two humbugs shot last month and I came across two more while walking my lurchers. I never said it was terrier men who did this, as for giving anti's Amo or doing job for them lol, the lad who had permission to shoot on this farm as now lost permission because of this, alls I was trying to get across is a few are fcuking it up by doing this kind of thing.

Hello lads, merry Christmas and all that. I’ve got a terrier in my kennels that starting to test my patience.

Great dog, keen as mustard and all that but time and time again I’ve broken through to her steadily baying away only to find she’s sat with something mid tube on one occasion I broke though and there was nothing there however last week I said to myself if I break through I’ll clear the tubes up and pop her back in to make sure it isn’t my fault rather than blame her. Lo and behold it was sat about a meter back from the open end of the tube and eventually bolted itself - Happy says, a nice morning out (I only dig on my own and keep it private).

However today we popped over to seasoned place, in she went, which was an incredibly large earth with multiple holes spanning across a bracken bank. Straight away she sat at 2.4 baying away well, too many entrances to net I kept an eye out for the bolt but nothing was to be seen. For the next hour maybe two she barley surfaced and worked the entire earth sitting and baying on occasion but shortly moving on and covering a great distance. Eventually on one occasion when she popped out, nose down looking for the next way in I picked her up and sat her back in the truck as I didn’t want to be sat there for another hour trying to get a mark.

my question is simple, what am I doing wrong? Or is the bitch at fault for not working her quarry to a stop end and staying. She isn’t massively experienced however for what’s she’s done I’ve found she’s intelligent and very safe often comes away without a mark. Please don’t recommend PTS or moving her on, I understand many terriermen wouldn’t tolerate this however for the times I have dug to her successfully it has been a great pleasure. I’ve had a conversation with a lad local to me and his response was “she’s not hard enough to hold them” which made me think one man’s preference may not be another’s.

all the best & happy new year

      Morning lads,
so I’ve always had black fell terriers and work them to ground. But for a few years I’ve noticed people starting work slightly broken coated very short coupled terriers that are little savages. I never really get a clear answer to what’s in them but I really like the look of them.

one chap told me he’d crossed his Sealyham with a Russel and it turned out a good little worker. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this breeding specifically for earth work?

      thanks

We’re keen to introduce our 2 year old Jack Russell to ratting.
We’re based in East Devon. Are there any local groups or anyone that can teach us / her the ropes?
