Was out digging a few worms this morning, and heard a cuckoo for the first time in years. Not only that, but shortly after, two flew right over my head as i was digging. No more than twenty yards away. Lovely sight.

I love the call of the cuckoo, makes it even more special that they're only here a few months max, such a distinct and iconic call...

You done well to see a couple pal, wonder if they were male and female pairing up..

Was up at my bolt hole in the dales yesterday and one flew across the lane and landed on a fence post at the side....about to take a photo on my phone when it shot off to lane on top of a wall 20 foot away where it was joined by a second. Not calling at all but great to see..

Did it do the decent thing and keel over ?.....had one twat my motor last year but it fecked off...was over the top on the A66 today and saw a nice short eared owl and a golden plover in full plumage.....real nice...

How the ferrets coming on.....

Not sure mate. I do remember reading somewhere, that males often gather up into groups, so could be either i suppose.
