That's fair enough I suppose.  You're better off snaring as if someone does steal a snare it's not too bad just will have to pull the others up so no more are nicked. Hate to have a pricey imbra or even fenn (£11)  stolen

There was a trap that used a killing blow from a bar. Will have to look for an image and other info, but a trap like that would work just may be a bit on the heavy side

A Glenmoor rabbit trap is what it was called, used a tripwire mechanism to set it off. Looks like it used a fairly small gauge wire as the killing bar which looks like it engaged in a catch on the upper metal arm on the right hand side

Why not just go to somthing like a 5x5 bulldog style conni with a pan instead of trigger wires ?  The 5x5 ' is small enough for rabbits but with that smaller size and double springs it has twice as much killing power . Also with a bulldog design ( which basically means there's a extra jaw type deal welded on that adds more percise force, ) you gonna have alot of animals caught and not moving.
