putting the raider back

Recommended Posts

At least it will put a smile on Walshie,s face lol

stripped it right back and sanded the stock down

had to paint the action as the bluing still would not take to where the acid had been spilt on her

but up to now the paint is staying put and not reacting this time .

went and got some hammerite smooth black (a tip off Si Brown)

and it looks like the bluing off a Pro Sport the way they have a dark deep bluing

but time will tell if it stays put on the acid parts of the rifle .

stripped the stock back just smoothing it out now then the stain and the oil will go on .

That's an odd one to still react with bluing after all this time. I know blood can mess up bluing, but there must be something that can neutralise whatever it is. :hmm: I guess you'd need to find out what it was in order to find out how to neutralise it. Time to call Gil Grissom.

What made you want to change it Jimmy?

The silver metalwork looked good on it.

The acid was starting to react with the lacquer Jon

iv a feeling it will with this paint as well given time bud

and as i needed the laquer to protect the metal work (rust)

it would only be a mater of time before i had to strip it all back

That's a pisser mate - I guess, like Walshie said, it'll be difficult to neutralise unless you know what's on it.

I worked with an old boy when I was an apprentice coach builder - he swore by vinegar on a scouring pad, followed by thiners to clean off any bad areas of metal.

......... That was on feckin big trailers though.

Good luck mate
