Building a new rifle rack

Recommended Posts

My old rifle rack takes too much space. Had some time left today. So I decided to start with a smaller and much more compact idea. Dont know if it wil work though=@.

The idea is two stories high. Kind of half a pyramid. Under the shelf is space for pellets. On the shelf 3 angular placed rifles. And half way up the rack the same as below.

If it works,....... lll post some pictures here in about a week time.

Cracking idea pal. If you are worried about the height and it doesn't need butting up to a wall then you could have it back to back, alternate grooves for the barrels obviously??

Grooves will be made, obviously.

If I make it for 5 rifles instead of 6...... then I can do:

1           2         3

     4             5

That way its the most conveiniant. And I can make a sharper angle of degrees.

All the imput is more than welcome

Back to back is not my first choice. Cos then I have to lift some rifles vertically out of the rack. So I want it as easy as possible.

Yes I did think that after I'd suggested it. Only any use if it's in the middle of a room which is as practical as a glass hammer??

I just went and bought a cabinet from a furnish-er store

and made it into a rifle cabinet

it matches the furnish-er in the room

took the shelves out and fastened the bottom draw down

holds a good few rifles now but do need to put some more brackets in now for the barrels

and fit a lock

i know its wood but its just to stop the kids getting at them

Once you made the step to the pcp rifles, you passed the crossroads and you entered a one-way street. You are beyond a point of return. Dark forces of the Lord of the Spring will work against you. You can try and bribe the springer-action with a blue laminate stock......

You will not succeed my friend. Erratic shots, slowburn, dieseling, loose stockscrews, bent springs, loose guides, out of round compressions tubes will be your punishment for the rest of your life.

No matter what rifle you buy.... you are f@cked!

Just because i dont hunt with them any more i do keep my hand in every now and again JO

im just as good with a springer as i am with a pcp but its the second shot at a flick of a leaver that makes them what they are with pcp ,

all ways shoot spring at the shooting range once iv set up the pcp,s for hunting .

taken plenty of vermin over the years with spring JO

Honestly, no boasting bullshit. I can outshoot a PCP with my spring rifles. I own a Daystate Regal .177 and a Webley FX2000 .22. Both are beautiful to shoot with but, my Air Arms Pro Sport .22 is more accurate producing a tighter single hole pellet group than I can achieve with both these superb PCPs shooting at a zeroing range of 30 metres. I can get the same standards with my on-ticket HW80 .22. That rifle delivers 23 foot pounds of whack, with absolute precision accuracy.

It's nice to be able to enjoy the advantages of both PCP and spring actions. But, I'm a spring gun man first to the end. I've yet to find a PCP that can produce quite the same level of precision that a well sorted spring rifle can.

All the best.
