I left the skull and antlers in tact on this big stag, peeled and limed then left out to clean.

Always good to keep a trophy :boogy:

Where did you get that Gav ? what was its live weight ?

the muley was about 350#  he was a huge bodied deer guarding 4 does, when i shot him.

the whitey was about 200#

both were shot on public land

I have 56000 acres permission galson estate, Isle of lewis, was 2002 cull and the best I ever had, bagged with a .308 around 750 yard Mark, was field dressed and dragged back with a quad, I couldn't have lifted dead weight, so a rough guess at well over 400lbs.

Err 2012 not 2002,wheres me glasses and proof reader ?

Should be getting figures end of April for numbers for cull this year, I'd be happy if I ever got close to a beauty like that again.

thats an impressive whitey rack you have there

cheers Ted

I was pleased with him ,not a bad buck for public land in BC.

I got him near grand forks bc on the first morning of my hunt in a  area i had never hunted before, within 20 mins of first light.

A guy drove up the trail when i was dragging the deer to the truck, He said he had been hunting the area for a few days with no luck.

I was in the right place at the right time. If you cant be good be lucky LOL

Ive never used beetles ,but ive been told there the best way to clean a skull.

I've seen the results and the pictures but never had the opportunity to see one live! That might have to be a future project.
