Salukis its a business partnership plain and simple he or she instinctively know more about hunting and running than you ever will and the saluki often thinks what you actually contribute to the partnership that is where the psychology comes in you kid them that you contribute more than you actually do.If they come to the stage of figuring out in reality you are a minor business partner thats when cloth ears ,disobedience and major problems can manifest them selves. End of lesson 1

love them or hate them imho they are the most versatile of crosses

know what you mean about partnership ,sometimes I think I am just.......... the transport manager

Think instincts ,  the older the breed the more reliant on instinctive behavior it is , more cat like ,  you cant f**k a cat over too many times or you won’t exist for it and it’s your tough

i been reading this thread an seeing as it fill a decent answers I won’t take the piss 😂

to me the saluki an even the crosses that are saturated in them are top athletes, superb hunters, natural readers of prey an very loyal, but an there is a big but 😂 how many need that bottomless stamina only needed for 4 min fens runs?

A lurcher to me like any dog needs to be able to come here am settle in an mould around me an my family an our life’s, I’m not about to change life for a dog that wants to be aloof an reserved if it don’t get its own way or decided cos I was working yesterday it don’t wanna come home after todays shift 😂 i need a a dog that will get upto upto it’s prey an do deed asap, an Salukis are known for letting runs last longer than usual, an before anybody starts crying these are all things iv seen with my own eyes with guys an dogs that are well paired but still have odd hicup as he calls it as it’s been bred into them🤔 I think the saluki deffo has its place In dog world an lurcher breeding but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be😀

Mine has 1/4 saluki and that is plenty for me. First time owning anything with saluki blood in. I admit that he has certain ways but I believe the dash of collie has also helped. He’s fitted in just fine around the house and family and does everything I need him to. He has his moments and has the odd sulk. Otherwise he’s good enough for me. ATB

decent post, the stamina thing also helps with recovery, and the ability to catch several animals one after another off one slip, I like a lot of saluki in my crosses, but for most lads doing general lurcher stuff quarter is plenty when the rest is lurcher, the modern line bred coursing dogs are almost pure saluki in percentage terms, though very different in reality.

I had a dog pup last year with hardly any saluki in his make but had thrown quite strong to it. Moaning constantly even after ridiculous amounts of exercise and work... He isn't in my kennels any longer let's just say that and never will I have another 😂

Sight hounds would likely have a good dose of instinctive intelligence which would make them good hunters but...

The guy has probably never owned or worked hunting dogs of any description.Going through the lists of breeds he suggests shows a typical kc breed standard mentality , no doubt hes done plenty of reading to write his thesis and obtain his doctorate but what he writes though interesting needs several doses of salt to be taken with it.   Tests under predetermined conditions though an aid are no substitute for hands on working and generations of field experience under real life conditions. You would expect Vets who specialise in canines to be good at what they do but reality often proves that is not the case in reality. Same as humans have differences in traits, characteristics , behavioural patterns and levels of achievement so do dogs . Personally I  seen dogs as thick as pig shit and un trainable I have also seen many from the same breeds achieve great things  and do tasks that people never even thought they would or could do..The Professor makes reference to a dog being able to take commends and learn from humans. Dogs thousands of years ago became domesticated not because of humans but because they were intelligent enough to know that these are a source of food, warmth and comfort,People may argue but we domesticated them well that is debatable which others species thats been domesticated breeds regularly then has another species raise it young feed them house them for the rest of their lives I would suggest that shows a pretty high level of intelligence and adaptability in itself. Very similar circumstances to immigrants but lets no go there aye LOL

I'd say take it with a pinch of salt...he's ranked the saluki higher than a German wire haired pointer, and a greyhound even higher 😂

It's not about that though is it!

When a dog is stressing you out, there's nothing worse, apart from a divorce 😂

I've broken up with two ladies, partly to do with this prick. My daughter loves & hates him. I want to kick his fuuckin head in, then shiv the cnut everyday..... but he's still here making my life miserable, I'm just one of those guys that won't give in until there is no hope..... solution = shock collar! It's worked 😂😂😂

Jokes aside if the collar didn't work, he was booked on a one way trip to the mountains ;)
