Quite innovative staggering the partition like that to make it fit two traps. That restriction guides Rattus right on the trap pan too. I'll file that one in the memory bank somewhere for future. :good:

i thought the same. great idea but sadly i think i wouldnt have thought of it. would probably have kicked the box and started again

It was very scientifically worked out. The equation i used was....... Partition= length of cuttings of firewood+overlapped by excess length of 2 cuttings and spaced out by thickness of one cutting.?

Equations were never really my thing so pure good luck it actually works!?

Kicking the box would have been the next equation!

Yes, I have done a few of these modified Victor's after seeing it done,

Here

Excellent little trap with a nice strong spring when modified, put a small piece of perspex to lift the spring up on the one's i did, and another little bit

screwed on top to stop the springs moving, done some chinbar's with metal rod and some out of wood, also done the tunnel with mesh on some and others

with thin plastic folded over to make a tunnel.

The one in pic has no tunnel just a little cubby that slides over the trap.

Gooner,

I just put that bit of strip on because i had a small split in the wooden base of the trap, just glued and screwed it on to stop the split.

A mate of mine has a garden rat problem and i offered my Fenn's to him but he looked online (google search) and said they were illegal to use on rats as of 2020 and only can be used for stoats, is this true?

I've recently got hold of a Black Cat trap and was wondering if anyone else was using them?
If so, what are you baiting them with and how are you setting them up, as i can only find American info on ground squirrels?
      Thanks

Bought some Victors a while back but never got round to modding them. Had a rat chewing up insulation in the garage this week so it gave me the incentive to get them done.
Fitted a kill bar and a perspex spring spacer to the traps. Fixed them in a box with a couple of screws so they can pivot out to set them. Just set them so will see how i get on.

Neighbour's got piles of soil, rubble, broken slabs etc behind his shed and the rats are loving it. They been coming in under his fence and through into mine behind my shed. Shot maybe a dozen in last 6 months with airgun but just not got the time for that so ordered a couple of mark4's. And with the helpful posts of you gents on here.. First one yesterday.
