Roasting A Frizzen!

Recommended Posts

I was getting dull sparks and lousy ignition with this gun so I set to cooking the frizzen in carbon in the wood burner.

Eventually I got it hot enough to take carbon so I quenched it.

The following field test proved it was a success. A crow was impressed with the speed of ignition and a magpie.

Here is a photo of an also impressed squirrel.

Were you worried you'd make it brittle?

A little bit but if it breaks it will make me make another, possibly from a file.

I suppose you could temper this one to take the brittleness out, but it seems to be working just fine as it is,
