I can recommend Cwmorthin as a good mine to go down with a lot to see inside: http://www.go-below.co.uk/ There's also Bounce Below in Llechwedd Slate Mine: https://www.zipworld.co.uk/adventure/detail/bounce-below I think Cwmorthin would be a lot more fun if he's never been down a mine before.
